WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Mixed winter precipitation spreading into the U.P. this morning will continue through this evening. Mainly snow is expected in the west, with a mix of snow and freezing rain over the central and east. Confidence in type/location/amounts of precipitation remains low at this time, but moderate to heavy snow and mixed winter precipitation will all be possible with this system. The combination of blowing snow and snow will make travel very difficult in the Keweenaw. Elsewhere freezing drizzle and period of light snow will result in continued slick surfaces. Moderate to heavy snow is expected through much of the morning, save for the far southern UP, before transitioning to a wintry mix with freezing rain/drizzle this afternoon. Confidence remains low to medium regarding the spatial extent of freezing rain accumulation, however.
