ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via North Country Snowmobile Club UP >> 02/20
TRAIL REPORT – The good news: We got 4-12″ of new snow this week with more on the way today. We groomed Trail 1 and 11 in The Porkies.
The bad news: We have an operator out with the flu and did not have anyone to back him up the past 2 days. The snow we got is heavy, wet and hard to work with and the temps have not cooperated to freeze our grooms this week, so the trails are breaking down very quickly.
Mother Nature is going to favor us tonight! Temps are dropping which will allow us to repair the damage and we are working diligently to get groomers in the seats this weekend.
WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Mixed winter precipitation spreading into the U.P. this morning will continue through this evening. Mainly snow is expected in the west, with a mix of snow and freezing rain over the central and east. Expect highest snow amounts from the higher terrain of Marquette and Baraga Counties to the Keweenaw, with highest ice amounts over the south-central and eastern U.P. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea... WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> As precipitation comes to an end over most of the U.P. this morning, attention turns to the next system bringing another round of potentially hazardous winter weather to the area tonight and Friday. Confidence in type/location/amounts of precipitation remains low at this time, but moderate to heavy snow and mixed winter precipitation will all be possible with this system. Stay tuned to the forecast for future updates! #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea... See MoreSee Less

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Heavier snowfall has exited much of the U.P except for the Keweenaw where several inches of snowfall are expected overnight. The combination of blowing snow and snow will make travel very difficult in the Keweenaw. Elsewhere freezing drizzle and period of light snow will result in continued slick surfaces. Temperatures will warm above freezing for much of the U.P on Thursday. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo ... See MoreSee Less

LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Gogebic Area Grooming >> Bergland Area Groomer's report for 2-17-26. Machine's were back out after the warmup we had and it looks as though the trail's held up fairly well. Yes, they are rough but we should have them straightened out in a few days. Temp's are supposed to be around the upper 20's to low 30's the next several days and we did receive a couple inches of fresh overnight! Also groomer's may be on the trail during the daytime hours so please use caution. Gogebic Area Grooming ❄️❄️❄️ #lakegogebic#westernup#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> The previously advertised winter storm has lifted into the area early this morning. Moderate to heavy snow is expected through much of the morning, save for the far southern UP, before transitioning to a wintry mix with freezing rain/drizzle this afternoon. Confidence remains low to medium regarding the spatial extent of freezing rain accumulation, however. Gusty winds and heavy wet snow may cause power outages in the Keweenaw.
