There’s plenty of snow to ride out there! Trail #7 remains in excellent shape. The trails toward both Lakes of the North and Johannesburg are bumpy and in fair to good condition.
Please note, due to last April’s ice storm, there are logging operations in some locations. Logging is taking place on the intersection of trails 7 & 4 (Waters) toward Dodge Lake and near Turtle Lake Road (East of Gaylord). The logging trucks may use the trail as a road at times. Proceed with caution in these areas. Trails are still passable and the groomers are doing their best to keep the trails smooth in these areas.
Check out a live view of trail # 7 here.
A few things to remember about our groomers and trails:
– Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way. – Please move off the trail when groomers are approaching and allow them to safely pass. – If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass. – Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night, so stay alert. – Always ride on the right side of the trail. – Ride safe and ride sober.

A great 17 degree morning in Frederic. been a steady flow of sleds thru this morning but still kind of quiet. Typically super bowl weekend people start heading home which is great for the riders that stay around. 17 degrees is a perfect riding temp. Have had several large groups in this morning which is nice. Still reports of both good trails and rough trails. Not sure that I like the forcast for next week as it says its gonna warm up a little bit. Still many riders have stopped in that haventt been here in years. Good to see old timers. Thanks for checkingin. Pete

FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Made it back to Frederic last night about 9. A fantastic trip 675 miles and 29.3 hours on my machine. Yesterday morning we headed out from Curtis to St Ignace where we took the ice bridge to the island andhad lunch there and ride around the island. They are doing alot of work over there including a huge project on the grand hotel. After riding back over to ignace we called for the shuttle to take us to the drop off point in Mackinaw City and it was another 3.5 hour ride home from there.. Dunstin and Ronald headed out last night to go back to Iowa but only made it to Grand Rapids as it was to slick out. It was a bit dirizzly ice so it was slow going getting here. We were at Kings fish market in Moran and ran into to guys that had been following our trip so that was a surprise. Pretty quiet in Frederic this morning and the snow is a bit squishy. Its supposed to cool down for the weekend and right now at 10 a..m on friday its 29 degrees. Been out plowing around the building here and I would say we had about 4 new inches during the week so I timed it just right for not being around here. Thanks for checking in. Pete. #gaylord#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Feb 4, 2026, 3am…Nuisance flurries hang on today, but the clipper parade returns starting Thursday, with a reinforcing shot of arctic air Friday that will result in some travel impacts as temperatures fall from near freezing early to the teens by afternoon with more snow showers and blustery conditions. Colder Saturday, with a few flurries around again, and then, you guessed it, more snow chances going into early next week…though signals point toward a warming trend during this period as well. #miweather #gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeyFeb 4, 2026, 3am…Nuisance flurries hang on today, but the clipper parade returns starting Thursday, with a reinforcing shot of arctic air Friday that will result in some travel impacts as temperatures fall from near freezing early to the teens by afternoon with more snow showers and blustery conditions.
