SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 02/07 2/7/26 Good morning, everyone! Happy race day!! ? Here’s a report from Turbo and Diane after their run overnight on the 889 loop and part of 8 in the Bay Mills area- “Happy I-500 Day!!! Just wanted to let you know what was going on through the night while everyone was sleeping. SSMSA always strives to give you the best riding conditions. Last night Groomer Warren did trail 8 to the Soo, and passed the Pisten Bully on to me Turbo at 1:15am. We (Mrs. Turbo and I) groomed trail 889 and finished up about 6:45am. My trail report for the night…this is the worst I have seen trail 889. Moguls and snow drifts, it was a challenging night to say the least. These 40 mile an hour winds blew snow everywhere. In places there were 5 foot drifts across the trails. From all the traffic this weekend, a lot of the curves on the trail were really banked. We tried to flatten them out as best we could. I think we did a good job. At the end of the night, I would rate the trails excellent. We want everyone to enjoy the ride to the race with nice trails. Just remember ride right, stay safe and ride sober. We want you back here next year. That’s all for now. We are going to bed.
