BESSEMER AREA – WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via Trails-North Powersports LLC >> 🥰 Sunday 11/30/2025 Well the Lake Effect Machine has definitely turned on and I do believe the off switch is no where to be found 💯 4 inches last night and today close to another 5 inches and still snowing. Tomorrow is December 1st, the trail opener and the Snowmobile Clubs are nowhere near ready to give the green light to sledders. The HNCA staff ventured onto trails 101 and 13 in an attempt to meet the PB19 Brusher crew on the Ontonagon RR grade trail 137. We were able to travel roughly one mile east on 13 by snowmobile before turning back. The extensive damage caused by fallen tree tops will necessitate a massive cleanup effort. The Groomer has successfully opened trail 12 South from Ontonagon to US HWY 45. Today's objective is to progress down 137 and east on 13 to 45, returning to the Ontonagon shop for maintenance. Tomorrow, we will collaborate to attempt breaking trail west towards the Porkies and White Pine. We are in dire need of assistance. This is your report for Sunday 11-30-25 from Gogebic Area Grooming. The Thanksgiving day storm definitely left an impression..
On the positive, we have a lot of ❄️!!
We've had machines out the past 2 day's with little to no success on the railroad grade 8e to Ewen.
Today they were successful on 1n to White Pine. However they did not go through the corridor which we will be attempting on Tuesday.
Lake Gogebic was still open water before all the snow we received. Stay Off!
If you choose to ride you will come across obstacles... Pack your gear accordingly and never ride alone! It will take us a few weeks to get thing's back to somewhat normal. #lakegogebic #westernup #snowphotos

We know that with the recent snowfall, everyone is itching to get out on the trails. Trust us — we’re just as excited for the season to begin! ❄️✨
While trails are officially open as of December 1st, the reality on the ground is much different. The storm left behind significant damage, downed trees, debris, and large water holes that are not yet frozen. At this time, the trails are in no condition to be ridden.
Our crews are working hard to clean up and get things safe and ready, but we need your help.
👉 It is HIGHLY recommended that riders stay off the trails right now to allow cleanup efforts to continue and to prevent further damage.

As you've seen from local groomers the trails will need a ton of work before they're rideable. Trust what the groomers say don't fall for reports from a few businesses that will con you just to take your money make calls to reputable businesses that will tell you the truth..

Looks like the North end of the lake has frozen over with cold temps in the forecast I suspect people will walk out fishing by next weekend. Use extreme caution it's first ice folks

Essentially, this is nearly the same map I shared previously. I just narrowed the ranges slightly. Shape is the exact same. I do think some lake enhancement from Lake Huron is possible, so, I highlighted that. Also, the higher elevations of the western U.P. COULD get slightly more. I'd say it's just a chance, but a big enough chance that I added it to the map.
This is just a fine, fine tune before the big event. Think of it as I just polished my Stingray before a car show 😛

1. It is still deer rifle season and the trails are NOT open.
2. The trail system officially opens Monday, December 1st - BUT
- The swamps are not frozen
- There are downed trees on many trails that we are working to
remove ASAP
- We still need to place many directional and stop signs
3. We are brushing and clearing this weekend and could use more help. Message us here for more info. If you can come help, please dress in blaze orange or have a high vis safety vest.

Yes we got hammered with snow 24 plus inches here at the shop. Yes the trails can open Dec 1st remember the groomers can't legally hit the trails till Dec 1st . I know everyone wants to get out and ride so do I but our great groomers will have so much work to do before the trails are ridable. Multiple issues to deal with very wet unthawed ground,can't imagine how many trees are down in the woods and we got just hammered all around. Folks let the groomers do what they do let them get the trails ridable trust me you'll have much better riding once the groomers can clean everything up.
