Gaylord Bureau –

November 29, 2025

The countdown is on! The snow has been coming down and we’re patiently waiting for trails to open on December 1st. There was quite a bit of drifting when the winter storm started on Wednesday, so snow totals vary throughout our area. Most areas are reporting close to 24 inches.

If this winter is anything like last year, it’s going to be another epic one! Want to be ready? Get a free trail map delivered right to your mailbox and plan your adventure!

Check out this live feed to see trail #7, just north of Gaylord.

A few things to remember about our groomers and trails:

– Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way.
– Please move off the trail when groomers are approaching and allow them to safely pass.
– If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass.
– Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night, so stay alert.
– Always ride on the right side of the trail.
– Ride safe and ride sober.

Want to be ready? Get a free trail map delivered right to your mailbox and plan your adventure!

As always, check back with us for updates and weather reports.

Sledheads of Frederic – 11/29

It’s saturday morning Nov29 in downtown Frederic, I plowed about 7 hours yesterday and I am sure have that much more to do today. The road grader just went by and left me another 3 foot pile. So I just have to keep pecking away at it. Monday is when trails officially open. I am off to go plowing and putting a note up in the door to call me if you are at the door.

I will be down trying to get the storage lot cleaned up. Thanks for checking in and for now I am forgetting the snow chant. Thanks for checking in. Pete

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> What actually fell vs our forecast… 🎯
Pretty spot on! We had very minor fluctuations, which I know Meteorologist Joel Fritsma will likely dive into a full analysis later on this week, but overall the forecast was VERY solid.
Let us know how much you got!
(FYI: The UP has lake effect snow ramping up today which will add to their totals. That WAS included in our forecast but it HAS NOT yet fallen) #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskey

WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> SNOW POTENTIAL!!
Essentially, this is nearly the same map I shared previously. I just narrowed the ranges slightly. Shape is the exact same. I do think some lake enhancement from Lake Huron is possible, so, I highlighted that. Also, the higher elevations of the western U.P. COULD get slightly more. I'd say it's just a chance, but a big enough chance that I added it to the map.
This is just a fine, fine tune before the big event. Think of it as I just polished my Stingray before a car show 😛
Feel free to ask questions in the comments! I am ALWAYS here to do my best to clarify and help so you can know exactly what to expect. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeySNOW POTENTIAL!!

FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Doug Haner, Rob, Knowles, Al Parks first ride of the year. I haven't put an update on because there's so much snow and I'm plowing there's 3 feet of snow around Sledheads and I haven't even touched that yet. I will be plowing most of the day tomorrow. These guys sent me their picture they had called me and they stopped by there's a lot of sleds out and about. I saw probably about a dozen in Frederick at the Swamp earlier. It's now Friday night about 630 and I could stay here and plow all night probably this is crazy. I haven't ever seen this much snow here. #gaylord #snowphotosDoug Haner, Rob, Knowles, Al Parks first ride of the year.
