SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 11/28/25
Good morning all!
We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
No big snowfall for us in the Soo. Only 3” here at my place. Sounds like just west (Strongs area) received at least 10” at last check, and south of us in Cedarville about the same.
Hopefully temps will cooperate so it’ll stick around.
The season officially starts Dec 1st and we are ready to rock once conditions permit. There will be water holes in the usual spots until things freeze in. There have been BIG improvements made on trail 49, and the trail from Kewadin to 49 to mitigate the water we normally see early season, so we’re excited to be ahead of the game there!
There is “construction” going on on trail 480 that should be completed in January, and will much improve that section. More on that once things are open, but a heads up for now.
We need a good foot of snow and cold temps to start grooming. We’ll keep you posted! ❄️❄️❄️

WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> SNOW POTENTIAL!! Essentially, this is nearly the same map I shared previously. I just narrowed the ranges slightly. Shape is the exact same. I do think some lake enhancement from Lake Huron is possible, so, I highlighted that. Also, the higher elevations of the western U.P. COULD get slightly more. I'd say it's just a chance, but a big enough chance that I added it to the map. This is just a fine, fine tune before the big event. Think of it as I just polished my Stingray before a car show 😛 Feel free to ask questions in the comments! I am ALWAYS here to do my best to clarify and help so you can know exactly what to expect. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea#gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeySNOW POTENTIAL!!
