KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports >> 03/11
I will remain firm in my statement that spring riding can be some of the best riding!
Yes there is “ugly” in spots but plenty of miles to enjoy on trails! Way less traffic! Bluebird skies!
Today is one of those days, with an extra added bonus of grooming by the Keweenaw Snowmobile Club! Hopefully you all already know the value of riding with the use of Groomer Tracker!
Neil Moulis and Brad Kolmonen are out enjoying a great spring day. This is their 3rd day of riding. They left Houghton again this morning, with the same report as yesterday….still best to start riding Lake Linden/Calumet and north of there! Especially now that groomers are even out!
Neil stopped in M&M Power Sports before starting the day as he had just pucked up his new sled on the way up to the Keweenaw and needed some accessories! M&M even put some scratchers on while he waited! Such amazing service always by Chad and the team! This will help with any hardpack areas (like early morning, heading north out of Houghton)
Copper Harbor bound again, fuel at Copper Harbor Fuel Stop and then on to The Mariner North! But first, a stop at the The Drift Inn for a delicious special of the day and visiting with some of the best bartenders around!

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> We gained a bunch of new followers here at MSC, so for those who are new here, welcome! We do more than just track storms. With our degreed meteorologists on staff, we also have our own in-house forecasts releasing every day, 365 days a year. Unfortunately, for our warm-weather enjoyers up north, this forecast is not for you. Snow is likely today, March 7th, 2026 on the backside of the low pressure system moving through, while parts of southern Michigan reach the mid-60s today. Most of the snow will fall along the spine of the western Upper Peninsula, where 2-5" of fresh snow is possible in the cornflower blue coloring. 1-3" of snow also possible in nearby Baraga and western Marquette county. A trace to 1" is possible for all areas in white, but most of these areas won't see more than a couple flurries mixed in with light freezing drizzle. Snow should be done by 10 pm EST across the Upper Peninsula. The rest of the state will be dealing with temperatures in the 40s to 60s with showers and thunderstorms, clearing by late evening. This will set the stage for a mostly sunny Sunday ahead. We got you covered as always right here at Michigan Storm Chasers, no matter the weather. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #petoskey#gaylordWe gained a bunch of new followers here at MSC, so for those who are new here, welcome! KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via The U.P. Superior Snowmobile Club >> Yesterday's report from Groomer Chris out of our Greenland barn: I just got back from inspecting 3/13. Roughly 18 bare spots this evening compared to the two that were there when I went out around noon. Most of the bare spots are 3-4' in diameter however there is about a 16' long bare spot on the 90 degree turn/hill by 3. Significant portions of the trails are pretty slushy and the snow is real loose on the majority of the trails. Thankfully 13 is still in decent shape however the stretch of 3 from aspen lane to the 3/12 intersection is full of small 6" or so moguls. I'm gonna hold off on grooming because the snow is so wet I don't think I'll be able to get it to flow out the drag and it's not gonna get cold enough to firm up the snow. Thank you, Chris! #keweenaw... See MoreSee Less
