Ironwood – Western U.P. Trail Report – 03/07
IRONWOOD – WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via Gogebic Range Trail Authority – ORV & Snowmobile Club >> 03/07 Photographs from my trip today on Trail 160 illustrate the considerable snowfall this year, which is comparable to two years ago, with snow depths of one to two feet observed in specific areas, indicating the best winter conditions encountered thus far. There are some wet spots especially in the flatlands, farm fields but with temperatures dropping tonight they should tighten up.❄️☃️🏂🌟 <> <> <> Report via Gogebic Range Trail Authority on Facebook <> Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report Sunday December 7th, 2025 - 1:51 am LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Gogebic Area Grooming >> Bergland Area Groomer's update for 12-6-25. From Rockland to trail 101 the groomer has made a pass clearing big trees and popping the tree tops up. It now needs an army of sledders to come up and ride it, brushing it along the way! The Potato farm road ditch trail is also cut in. There will be a new traffic pattern on LP Walsh road we will sign in this week as well. Guys, we need a ton of help. How can you help? Grab your sleds, buy your trail passes and COME ON UP. Ride literally any trail with hand brushing tools and get to work. Its that easy! We need it badly, so head north, eh?! <> Latest Trail Reports – Quick Links <>Postings From Regional Pages On Facebook
Do not be fooled. This is in limited sections that we've been able to open up! There's surprisingly a lot of people riding, so they are apparently getting through with smiles and 👍 up! For the most part...
Use CAUTION and be patient when you approach us on trail. Our task is far greater than you being able to blaze by when we are moving forward and back with zero visibility of you. Gogebic Area Grooming ❄️❄️❄️ #lakegogebic #westernup #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less
📌 SATURDAY 12/6 3pm EST @ GROOMER BARN: Groomer Operator Orientation. Interested in grooming? Please show up!
⚠️All trails are considered in early season condition with 5-30"+ down across the system. The Silver City area has the least amount and it needs more snow before any snowcat work can commence. Trails are very dangerous right now with buried logs down under the snow across trails, along with brush and tree tops down in the lanes of travel due to the recent blizzard.
✅ YES - COME RIDE! See the snowmobile-powered actions we need done on our trail list below. ❗️‼️ YOUR SAFETY IS #1 to us. Trails cannot currently be ridden "like normal", we are a long ways from that. If you are a technical rider and have experience with sprung or loaded timber falling, we really need you. Don't have tree cutting experience? WE REALLY NEED YOU. Buy yourself a nice set of brush cutters or loppers and boogie on up to see us! So much hand brushing can be done to rapidly improve trail safety and groomability.
❄️ Trail 12 from 101 to Greenland: Seeking advanced riders to track pack this trail! We need to get riders in to brush it open and pack it down for groomers to come in. Trail 12 from 137 RR Grade east to Greenland is very wet and challenging. Please be careful!
❄️Trail 11 South Boundary Road: Was plowed by RC after the big snow which cleared most of the major obstructions. Was rolled last night 12/4. Low snow due to plowing.
❄️Trail 1 Silver City to Lake of the Clouds: Low snow. LOTC road was plowed after the big snow event.
❄️Trail 1 Silver City South to White Pine Trail 12 INT: Snow rapidly increases from the AmericInn to White Pine. Numerous wet areas, no brushing needs thanks to the pipeline company brushing it this summer!
❄️Trail 12 LP Walsh Road to Trail 101: Numerous (!!) wet areas as normal. Lots of snow on it. Was rolled 12/4. Thank you to riders for brushing this trail open yourselves!! Amazing!
❄️Trail 101: Most brush has been removed and is very rideable. Has been track packed only.
❄️ Trail 13 from 101 to 137 by Rockland: Track packed. Needs the most brushing help of all our open trails. We really need to brush this back, please help!
❄️Trail 137 to Ontonagon: Brushed open and track packed. Needs more brushing help!

First we would like to Thank all of you that showed up today to help. It's truly appreciated!!
8e to Ewen was attempted today and 8hrs later we didn't meet our goal. It's passable but still needs work. Tomorrow we'll finish the remaining couple miles and hopefully send a drag down. Next will be 13n to 101 (our turnaround.) will be finished up.
Has anyone tried riding 102 yet? Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks everyone We are making progress it's just a slow go! Gogebic Area Grooming ❄️❄️❄️ #lakegogebic #westernup #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less

Trail 1-From Marenisco south to Job Corp Rd is passable and panned. From Marenisco north to the end of 8800 passable but not panned. Trail 1 is temporarily closed after 8800 to the Gogebic County line (close to Copps Tower Rd
Trail 2-passable and groomed through Marenisco
Trail 100-passable but very rough, wet in areas, and many whips/branches.
Trail 13-temporarily closed from Trail 100 southward. Passable from Trail 100 northward to Camp 6 Rd but many whips/branches. A reroute is being worked on for 13 south of 100.
We are hoping to complete clearing Trail 1 from Marenisco to PI tomorrow and that will mean that all of the open trails in our area are passable.
Our next step will be to get out and pan, repair/update signage, and tackling all the remaining whips/branches.
Adventurous sledheads are welcome to help by accessing some of these trails and cut/saw/snip the whips and low branches. Just understand that pretty much all that is out there are groomer tracks so it’s rough and still very wet in low areas.
Be careful out there folks, we are getting closer but still a lot of work to get done! #lakegogebic #westernup #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less
