IRONWOOD – WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via Gogebic Range Trail Authority – ORV & Snowmobile Club >> 01/29 Thank you to Norbs electric for helping get the Tucker wired back up. The Tucker is back up and running! Jerry groomed trail 2 to Hurley. Carter and Jerry are on their way out to groom Trail 11s to Chaney Lake. Thunder Riders Snowmobile Club >> UPDATED 12/30/25- Groomers were finally able to get out today and groom our entire system and clear all big obstacles that were on or blocking the trails. Both groomers were out 9 to 10 hours to get through everything but still expect some mirror wackers as it will take a while to get all them. We got anywhere from probably 12 to 20 inches of snow so it is going to take a few days before the trails are really going to set up. We will be on a more consistent grooming schedule moving forward as long as weather cooperates and groomer drivers are available. Big thanks to some of the snowmobilers that stopped and help us clear some of the big trees and if you see something on the trails please try to pick it up to help our drivers out. The exception will be in the northwest wind snowbelts where up to 4” of dry fluffy snow is possible. But with the help from some we did get some of the down fall cleared so it will be easier from groomers to get through. We will be getting out tomorrow morning and continue clearing and grooming and if all goes well should be able to get on a regular daily grooming schedule. There are some wet spots that will freeze with upcoming cold. Be alert.
Mac took the tractor into The Porkies and groomed Trail #1 to Lake of the Clouds and Trail #11 (South Boundary Road) to Trail 102.
Please use caution on Trail #11 as the recent storm brought more trees down to the trail edges. We will be up there to cut them back a.s.a.p.
