NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association >> 01/22 So nobody forecasts or speaks about the 2″ of snow dust we automatically get here every night, and then most nights it snows some with that and I shovel 6″ daily to get out! I’m heading out again on Tral 9 still leaving Newberry, very pleased with the amount of new snow I have to work with! Light lake effect snow showers will linger over the eastern U.P., mainly close to Lake Superior. With dry air mixing in, totals will be relatively kept in check, but a swath of 1-3", perhaps 4" is possible along M-28 south of Grand Marais. Changing wind fields will also allow for light/brief accumulations along some of our lakeshore regions in the Lower Peninsula, but it's not guaranteed for everyone. Timing is through the remainder of the day. 20 degrees this morning under a sunny sky. We did pick up another inch or two yesterday also. Its supposed to get close to 40 today then drop back to "normal" for a few days, with some snow Saturday, before climbing back into the 30`s later next week. Nuff on the weather, here`s what went on for the trails yesterday.....
Groomer Dave ran the South trail #8 and called it EXCELLENT!
Groomer Ben ran the Point trails #452 & #453 and used the word PRISTINE!
Groomer Glenn ran the Falls trail #45 and said it was pretty beat up when he started but groomed up to good shape.
I haven`t heard from the Pine Stump trail #8 & #9 guy but I gotta assume its good to go too.
We`ll be running all trails all weekend so COME ON U.P.!!!!!!
