Gaylord Area Trail Report – 01/18
Gaylord Bureau – January 18, 2025 8:20 a.m The trails are holding steady in fair condition after yesterday’s brief warm up. The groomers are out this morning working on repairing the trails. Some areas may be a bit thin, but there’s still plenty to enjoy. Temperatures have dropped back down and it will be staying cold for a while. Enjoy the ride and stay safe! Sled traffic was slow all day yesterday with reports from people of not great trails and of course we have had no new snow. I shoveled snow against the sides of one of my rental houses last night. I had not been back there all winter and there was only about 4 inches of snow there. So that means everything that we have had this winter settled into that 4 inches and the ground wasnt even frozen. It supposed to be below zero the next few days and the north winds have picked up pretty good here this morning. I checked the 2 grayling hotels this morning and days inn had 6 trailers and ramada had 16. Thats the most I have seen there this winter and I hope those guys get a decent ride but its pretty sparse for snow around town. Thanks for checking in. Snow totals will be the highest yet again into the Keweenaw Peninsula. It's almost a carbon copy of today. Ice totals, however, are primarily a concern for the Upper Peninsula. Still alot to melt off here in Frederic, Piles were huge and so very rock hard its still gonna take them a while to melt down. The good thing about all the snow was that it spread the riders out all thru the state which made for a much safer season. Even with that there were still 12 deaths with only 4 in the lower and the rest in the u.p.
