Watersmeet – Western U.P. Trail Report – 01/14
WATERSMEET / WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via U.P. Thunder Riders Snowmobile Club – 01/14 My wife and I went for a ride today trail 13 and 2 west and things are in pretty good shape but could definitely use more snow in spots. Things are flat for the most part with some rocks especially entering and leaving bridges so please slow down and take it easy over them so we can save what we have until we get more snow to cover. Overall had a 160 mile ride going to Marenisco to Bergland through Silver City and White Pine. Tons of snow further north but a very doable ride from the Watersmeet area. Groomers are out again tonight trying to keep our trails the best we can with what we have. Nice and flat from Rogers Bar to Dutch’s Bar! Ride right and Stay safe! <> <> <> Reports via: U.P. We are currently sitting at 24° with a low of 17° this evening. Around 3"of snow has fallen over the past 24hrs and was our first measurable snowfall of the 25/26 season.
As you can see by the pictures we've been getting everything ready for the December 1st opening (Weather permitting).
Next up. We will be putting new cutting blades and guide plates on our Trail Setter drag.

The first one is the synoptic (aka "system") snow associated with a low that is moving east through southern Ohio. The counterclockwise flow around the low is shown over Metro Detroit as moisture interacts with decreasing temps, leading to this morning's snowfall.
Over the U.P. and Lake Michigan, the north winds are ushering in the coldest air of the season, which activates lake effect snow and transitions to the second portion of this snow event. Counties in the corner of southwest lower Michigan, northern Indiana and Illinois are set to receive a firehose of lake effect over the next 24-36 hrs, resulting in accumulations that could push one foot.
Portions of northern lower Michigan and the Saginaw Bay region are also set to receive lake effect snowfall through this evening, with amounts of 3-6 inches possible, with isolated higher amounts. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #newberry #soo #gaylord #cadillac #traversecity #petoskey
