PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders – 01/12
1/12/25 28 degrees this morning, cloudy and very windy out of the SE. No new snow in the last 24 hrs but the weather guessers are calling for some for the next few days, lets hope they are right, sure could use it as the guys are saying some spots are still pretty thin for snow…..like this……
Groomer Dave ran the Point trails yesterday and reported it turned out good +. He did not run the Doe Lake rd ridge cause its so thin on snow.
Groomer Keith ran the Pine Stump trail and said it turned out good but there are some thin spots also. He told me he had alot of trouble with riders following him around and tearing up his fresh groom. This is one reason we don`t believe in the groomer tracker (aka: groomer chaser) thing. These people just wreck it for everyone else!
I am runnin the South trail #8 today and I think I`ll be the only one out, but not 100% sure on that one.
In other than trail news………We have a bunch of trail maps if any of the local businesses need any. Just get ahold of one of us, ya`ll know who we are.
I want to give a HUGE thank-you to Dan and Monica Millikan for all the groomer snacks, pop and the 30 rack. MUCH appreciated!!!!!!!!
LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sure could use it Groomer Chris
WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> Northwest winds kick in later today, allowing for lake effect snow to return primarily for the areas drenched in shades of blue. A couple locations will pick up 1-3" or greater within the most intense bands. We are monitoring the Kalkaska county region the closest for potential upgrades, but this should be a good base forecast to get you through the end of the day on Thursday, December 11th. This forecast starts at 5 pm EST this evening when the advisories end for the system, while the lake effect bands begin coming on shore. A couple of squalls may produce blowing snow, reduced visibilities under half a mile, and a very miniscule chance for thundersnow. Areas without a color designation are not anticipated to benefit from the lake effect snow this time around. We are watching for more snow chances Friday into Saturday. More details either later today, or first thing tomorrow. Keep it tuned in here at MSC! #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea#gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeyNorthwest winds kick in later today, allowing for lake effect snow to return primarily for the areas drenched in shades of blue. WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> Timing post!! Most of us got that quick burst of 1-2" (locally 3") earlier, and we're already onto the next system - later today!! Fast! Notice we'll have a distinct rain/ snow line to the south. Models have all come together nicely. That's a great thing because it lines up with my forecast quite nice. My snow map was posted earlier! Scroll my page! Some areas are looking at up to 6"of snow. Rain falling into cold snow pack roads will cause some very slick conditions. Dirt roads, I'm talking to you! You know this already, though haha. Most treated roads to the south will be ok, though. Anywhere all snow all the time (north of I-96) will be very slow going! Want a home with a fireplace and big windows to watch the snow!? WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> Snow time!! This is late Tuesday thru Wednesday AM only. Repeat that. 😅 About 1-2 inches could fall Tuesday AM before this second system moves in. There will be some rain mixed in to the south. Please note that'll make back dirt roads quite slick for those folks. Temperatures stay in the 20s further north, so it'll be a lighter, fluffy snow. Roads Wednesday AM won't be fun. This is followed by cold and some lake effect! More slick roads possible with that. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea#gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traverscity#petoskeySnow time!!

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org >> OK, finally gettin my butt in gear! If my brother was still alive he would be all over me calling me "slacker". LOL 12/8/25 16 degrees this morning with a light snow falling. We haven`t been gettin the snow some of the surrounding areas have. We have about a foot on the ground, plus or minus, depending on where your at and the ground is just starting to freeze, which is the biggest thing we need! It has been chilly and we have been gettin a little snow bout every day and it looks like it will stay that way....lets cross our fingers. Here`s the scoop on whats been happinin` out at da barn..... After a problem free run last year with the machines we started out not so hot this year. When we fired them up this fall all 3 machines started to yell at us.....beeping and flashing codes all over the place....darn computers anyhow! We did get one machine to clear but the other 2 won`t. The tech is supposed to come out this week and check them out. This is one reason we haven`t been out other than settin the town trail. We still have a TON of water on the trails at this time also. The Falls trail #45, the south trail #8 (of course) and even sections of the Point trails #452 and #453. I did see a nasty rescue run with sleds stuck in a big water hole on the Falls trail....so don`t even think about going around the gates on that trail or the swamp trail south of town!!! By the looks of the weather forecast things should start to tighten up soon, just be patient. I`ll start gettin on here more when we start making progress but for now we are in a holding pattern till we get the machines looked at and the water starts draining off. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Lake effect lifts north into the eastern U.P. Monday afternoon. Monday night, a quick moving batch of snow will spread through the U.P. Not only will this bring the region quick widespread snow, but it will also result in an increased risk for 1 inch per hour rates, especially east of Manistique and Seney. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaLake effect lifts north into the eastern U.P.
