FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 01/12
Sunday morning same old report. Just a few flakes fell yesterday and light snow in the air this morning. Same trailer count at the 2 hotels in Grayling. Zero at the Days Inn and 3 at the Ramada. There were a fair amount of sleds into Frederic yesterday and the pic below was at the Swamp. Most riders had the same thoughts that it was thinner as you came into Frederic and better to the west and north. Scattered snow thruout the week coming in the predictions so lets see what happens this coming week and maybe we will get a good MLK weekend. Funny how I talked about yesterday people that I have met over the years that were regulars. One guy came in and said he hadnt been in for 20 years since he was a kid. And another old timer Jim that I hadnt seen in years but instantly I recognized him when he walked in. The most and greatest one that came in was my friend Wayne who is a cancer survivor and while when he walked in it took me a second to recognize him it was a great feeling when I did. His sledding days are done but he still has the spirit. Thanks for checking in. Pete
FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> 22 degrees and sunny in downtown Frederic, no new snow overnight but they say this is the calm before the storm. Had a wonderful ride yesterday with Steve and Karen from Florida and did a nice 65 mile trip. We only saw one other set of tracks all day and we broke new 6 to 8 inches of snow all day. Many calls already this morning but if you arent here now to enjoy what we have it probably. wont hold up, but wait there is more as the big storm is supposed to be tonight and tommorow but the kicker on that is it could be rain too so its a crap shoot. Also Mackinaw bridge is clossed again as of 9:10 a.m and its now 10:36. I have lost count of how many times it has been closed this week so take that into consideration. You couldnt have asked for better conditions and temp yesterday but thats in the past now and the wait is on to see what mother nature brings us next. We had lunch at Lovells and while we rode there from Frederic a group of five guys rode in that had come down from Gaylord and they said that was good too. So thats where we are at for now. Thanks for checkingin. Pete #gaylord#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less

WEATHER UPDATE via Pictured Rocks Marine Weather Conditions >> Here are a couple probability maps for the snow and ice potential through the full duration of this upcoming spring storm (through 8am on Tuesday). It’s not often that we get to show 90% probabilities of getting 1.5 feet of snow, but that will be the case for much of our region. And the potential for significant icing has started to inch more into the far eastern UP, so we’ll need to keep an eye on that as well. I’ll provide some final updates tomorrow morning before the first impacts start to roll in. In the meantime, enjoy your “day off” from all this whacky spring weather! ⛄️💨🥶 #miweather #munising #seney #newberry #soo #petoskey #gaylord ... See MoreSee Less
