Ontonagon Area Trail Report – 01/11
ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via Hamilton’s North Coast Adventures >> 01/11 Please enjoy this view of trail 13 finish groom from early this morning courtesy of Hamilton’s North Coast Adventures. This is between Norwich Road and Old Victoria Road. The area has seen 8-12″ of fresh snow, more towards White Pine and the most at the intersection of 102 and 11 in the Porkies. We have a groomer down out in the Porkies, only one pass down South Boundary Road trail 11 was completed. The boys had a long night rescuing the operator out of there. Trail 1 south from White Pine, trail 12 east of trail 1 to trail 101, trail 101, trail 13 from 101 to 137, and 137 was groomed into Ontonagon. We are SHOCKED at how much 137 has rebounded! There are some sections with no base where the LES skipped out, but it’s the most rideable we’ve seen in a few weeks. Ontonagon is doable via 137/13! We plan to recover the groomer today (expecting to drive it out), TC Troll Joe is back in country here and he plans to fill holes and push open 12 to Pat’s Motorsports !!! Trail 12 east of White Pine still has some water hazards that we’re trying to freeze in. Your trail report writer is about fed up and will be placing some culverts in there tomorrow if they don’t hold! Trails improved Friday night with grooming and fresh snow. Trails are rated in FAIR TO GOOD condition with early season hazards existing. We continue to seek help brushing the west side ditch of Norwich road so we can get into it with the groomer for our trail 12 detour. Conditions range from poor around Silver City along Lake Superior in The Porkies to excellent at higher elevations in The Porkies and Trapp Hills.
There is still a deep indentation between South Boundary Road and The Porkies Ski Hill.
The water holes along Trail #12 between Ontonagon and Greenland are filled. Mother Nature can change up quick so ride that area with caution.

All trail's were covered today/ tonight. Conditions continue to improve and trail's are locked in tight.

Wyatt pushed trees/brush and filled water holes on Trail #12 between Trail #137 and Greenland.
For early season it came out pretty good.
Please use caution on this trail.
We sure could use some more snow within a couple miles of the big lake!

Trail #12 from our shop in Ontonagon to Potato Farm Road road was groomed Tuesday afternoon and is in early season riding condition.
Trail #12 from Potato Farm Road to White Pine was groomed last night and is in good condition, stay on the trail!
Trail #13 from the junction of Trail #137 was groomed early this morning by Steve from Team Hamilton's North Coast Adventures and is in very good condition.
Trail #1 from White Pine to Silver City was hit by our tractor and is in very good condition.
Trail #1 from Silver City to The Porkies Ski Hill was "groomed", it has very little snow and is bumpy. There is one large indentation between South Boundary Road and the ski Hill with water in the bottom. It is passable and hopefully completely frozen over with our cold temps last night.
Ride between Silver City and the ski Hill with caution.
Trail#1 from the ski Hill to Lake of the Clouds was hit last night and is in very good condition.
Trail #11 (South Boundary Road) from the big lake to Trail #102 was groomed and is in very good condition.
Trail #12 from Trail #137 to Greenland is back to post storm condition with overhanging trees/brush and open water holes.
We will attempt to open it up and fill today. One water hole is all but impassable, please use an alternate route

We are unfortunately down one machine. The Tucker is down until we get a new track.
Good news is we have Carter and Jeremiah spending their New Year’s out grooming.
Trail 2 from the Wisconsin/Michigan boarder to Marenisco. We heard from a club member that trail 2 through Morgan Mine is holding up so we will hit that another night!
Trail 8 will also get done!
11s is still unsafe for any groomer to go down. PLEASE ride with caution!
