SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 1/9/25 From groomer Warren this morning! Trail 8, 480, and 889 in Raco and Bay Mills are looking beautiful! <> SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 01/09 1/9/25 It’s been super cold! I had -13 here this morning. That is exactly what we need to freeze in the few wet spots on 49. I’m thinking we may be able to run a groomer down there this weekend🤞 The utility company will be getting the crane mats off of trail 494, and putting things back in order there. As soon as we are able to get in there and also into 497 by the high school, I’ll be sure to share! For now, see the pinned post regarding this area and use extreme caution if you ride that way. Exciting news! Our website is almost ready for me to share! I’ll be posting that later today. We could definitely use more snow, but all trails have fair to good snow coverage now. More in the northern areas, especially the Soo. I see a few inches here and there in the coming days. It’ll all help! Thanks all, stay tuned for more updates! Ride safe! Merry Christmas Eve! A curious deer checked out our snow gauge overnight. A bit of a warm up kept groomers parked yesterday, but cold has returned this morning, and there’s a decent amount of snow in the forecast in the coming days. Things were super flat before the warm up yesterday, so once again we have an excellent base.

Groomer Jay and I just finished the city trails. Aside from the car on trail 8 near Ashmun Bay, things look really good. We saw a little water on the trail to Kewadin as pictured, but that was honestly the worst part of the whole run. It was snowing hard for the last hour of our run.
I was pleasantly surprised to see how well things held up after the warm up last week.
We keep saying it, but we truly are very pleased with where things are this early seaon.
