FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 01/04 Lets load up and go to Indianapolis as it looks like all the snow is going to be south of I 70. We have only had another couple inches of lake effect snow since yesterday. I still feel like your skis are right thru the little bit we have and carbides are right thru to the gravel. Sleds are out and about riding and I heard the parking lot on 612 is full and I have 2 trucks out back so far this morning. I saw sleds running thru Grayling first thing this morning and the most I saw at the Swamp yesterday was about 20. At least its nice and white out. Here are a few pics. Thanks for checking in. Sleds were out and about yesterday and a guy just left here with a 3 inch paddle and said he was using his scratchers on it……still tons of snow in the woods but the trails are getting worn but not totally shot yet. I expect traffic will be slow but its not gonna get any better the next few days. I should load up my sled and head to the Keewanaw. Riding today should still be o.k. but hard out there and thats better than mush. Already had first rider of the day in and his pic is below with a couple other pics to show the snow is holding. Presidents weekend is usually a big weekend, I still dont like the forcast for next week but we still have lots of snow in the woods and its a long ways from gone. Thankfully it never made 32 yesterday and if the temps do reach the predicted highs it should only be for a little while in the late afternoon. Its cloudy and quiet out there and hopefully the sun stays hidden. If you do ride just be careful of icy corners. Thanks for checking in.
