Paradise Area Trail Report – 01/04
PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders – 01/04 1/4/25 Just got off the phone with groomer Mike C. that ran the Stump trail #8. He also brought along trainee Dan. Mike called the trail fair to good. There is only about an inch or two of base on most of it so they hit a lot of gravel and rocks but overall not too bad. Talked to groomer Kevin last night who did the Point trails #452 and #453. He also brought along Ben. He used to groom for us way back when but now re-joined after spending his last 9 winters in a warmer climate. Kevin reported that the trails were in pretty good shape but the ridge along Doe Lake is awful thin as far as snow goes. I took off down trail #8 south with another rookie Dave. Some of that trail was good while some of it was down right ugly. I was surprised by how much water was on the south end of the power line south of the river mouth. The Federal Forest section had a ton of water on it also so the gates on that section remain closed. We will not run this trail again for a few days to give it a chance to freeze up some. I can only imagine the water and mud problems on the Falls trail #45 and the swamp south of town. We are gonna give it a few more days to freeze before we attempt to run in there. Soooo…..trail #8 to Pine Stump is good and the Point trails are good with some thin spots but the trails thru wet lands need a bit more time to freeze up. I was gonna address the logger issue but ya`ll covered it pretty good on our FB page. They are about done anyways. I do want to say I support the loggers, they have to make a living too. WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> We know you'll pass by this post for snowfall today, but here on February 12th, 2026, it's quite a reflective moment to see just how far we have come this winter. Just a couple weeks ago it was lake effect snow every single day. Today, a light band of 1-3" near Munising is all we will need to write home about. We even tossed in some humor for those not in a designated snowfall zone. 19 degrees this morning with a stiff NW wind. Heavy LE blowing in and out again, same as yesterday. Its hard to tell how much snow we got last night what with the wind but I`ll call it 6", I`ve got drifts about knee high in my parking lot! On to the trails…….

24 degrees this morning and cloudy. We must have had that freezing fog again earlier cause everything is pure white outside....really cool looking. We have survived the last couple days of warmer weather really well, it helps when it gets into the low 20`s at night. It looks like a couple more days above freezing and then chill back out to "normal", with a little snow here an there.
Every trail was groomed yesterday and all operators said they are in great shape. Our entire system will get it again today and then Monday`s are our "maintance day". This is where we go thru all 3 machines with a fine tooth comb and grease underneath zerts and just check everything out. Bout all I got to report....COME ON U.P. before its too late!!!!

Happy Valentines Day everyone! 15 degrees this morning and a freezing fog out der. Everything is all white.....kinda pretty. Now that the weather has changed, temps up and down, I will try to put out a report everyday. I hit 42 here at my place yesterday. Here`s what went on yesterday.....
Groomer Patrick hit the Point trails #452 & #453 and called them good. He said the snow got pretty soft on him but all is good.
Groomer Glenn ran the Falls trail #45 and called that good too. Didn`t break thru any ice yet.
Groomer Dave ran trail #8 south and said the same. Our infamous swamp is still solid!
Groomer Keith ran the Pine Stump trails #8 & #9 and called that good.
All trails will get run today too.
So......there ya have it. a complete run down of our system.

It was 9 degrees this morning when I got up at 0630, it is now 22 at 0800 and cloudy....weird weather! It is supposed to get up into the low 30`s today and drop into the low teens at night. "They" are watching for a "big storm" coming in for early next week but temps into the 30`s....weird weather. Nuff on that....lets get to the trails....
All trails were run yesterday and they are all in great shape. We will run almost around the clock all weekend to keep them that way for you. If the warmer days start to break up the ice in the low lands I`ll be sure to let ya`ll know, but for now we are in GREAT SHAPE!!!! Bout all I got to report.
