Gaylord Area Trail Report – 12/19
Gaylord Bureau – December 19, 2024 9:00 a.m. We had an epic start to snowmobile season – the Gaylord area got hit with over 80 inches of snow to start out winter! After a light rain and warming temperatures, trails are in poor shape and generally frozen with some stretches of dirt showing. Grooming has stopped due to the temps, but don’t worry, there’s more snow in the forecast! Check out this live feed to see trail #7, just north of Gaylord. Just a super lite dusting of new snow overnight and things arent looking promising for the next week and that inclcudes 40s next week. We had that awesome teaser of to much snow and then it left us as fast as it came. The wait will be on again. I certainly do not like putting out these negative things all the time but its the way it is. Pics below are from outside my door this morning. Rock hard and slippeery. Even with we had a foot of new snow its going to take alot to where the groomers can get on it again. Thanks for checking in and we certainly need more snow chants. Still alot to melt off here in Frederic, Piles were huge and so very rock hard its still gonna take them a while to melt down. The good thing about all the snow was that it spread the riders out all thru the state which made for a much safer season. Even with that there were still 12 deaths with only 4 in the lower and the rest in the u.p.
