ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via North Country Snowmobile Club UP – 12/07 Today’s update is brought to you by Roxey’s Bar & Grill in downtown Ontonagon! A fantastic destination today with great trail conditions to and from! Trails that are rideable are in good shape, the others, heed warnings! Please support the sponsors that support us!!! Trail 137: starts thinning the last 1/2 mile as you drop north into Ontonagon. Plenty of snow and we even covered the bare spot underneath the bridge. Groomed last night Trail 12 from 137 east to Greenland: Mega water holes. Likely impassable for most riders. Rolled and packed for first timers Thursday night. Riding not advised. Trail 12 from Ontonagon WEST to 101: CLOSED, BRIDGE OUT. Opening Jan 2025. Trail 13: Rated good to very good. Deepest trail we found. Groomed up very well last night. Groomed in road route ditch trail Trail 101: Very good to excellent. Groomed up last night. Trail 12 from 101 to White Pine: fair to good. Water holes will reopen today, but it had a ton of snow along the power lines! Be mindful of driveway crossings! Also groomed in road route ditch trail. Trail 1 to Trail 11: Poor, but rideable. Snow farming operations turned it to snirt as snow levels dropped as you went north (very typical as you go to the lake). Trail 1 to Lake Of The Clouds: Fair. Thin snow. Groomed last night. Crews out working hard and all of the trails in our area are in good shape overall. There are still many low branches and whips, it’s getting better but a slow process. All trail's were covered today/ tonight. Conditions continue to improve and trail's are locked in tight.

Wyatt pushed trees/brush and filled water holes on Trail #12 between Trail #137 and Greenland.
For early season it came out pretty good.
Please use caution on this trail.
We sure could use some more snow within a couple miles of the big lake!

Trail #12 from our shop in Ontonagon to Potato Farm Road road was groomed Tuesday afternoon and is in early season riding condition.
Trail #12 from Potato Farm Road to White Pine was groomed last night and is in good condition, stay on the trail!
Trail #13 from the junction of Trail #137 was groomed early this morning by Steve from Team Hamilton's North Coast Adventures and is in very good condition.
Trail #1 from White Pine to Silver City was hit by our tractor and is in very good condition.
Trail #1 from Silver City to The Porkies Ski Hill was "groomed", it has very little snow and is bumpy. There is one large indentation between South Boundary Road and the ski Hill with water in the bottom. It is passable and hopefully completely frozen over with our cold temps last night.
Ride between Silver City and the ski Hill with caution.
Trail#1 from the ski Hill to Lake of the Clouds was hit last night and is in very good condition.
Trail #11 (South Boundary Road) from the big lake to Trail #102 was groomed and is in very good condition.
Trail #12 from Trail #137 to Greenland is back to post storm condition with overhanging trees/brush and open water holes.
We will attempt to open it up and fill today. One water hole is all but impassable, please use an alternate route

We are unfortunately down one machine. The Tucker is down until we get a new track.
Good news is we have Carter and Jeremiah spending their New Year’s out grooming.
Trail 2 from the Wisconsin/Michigan boarder to Marenisco. We heard from a club member that trail 2 through Morgan Mine is holding up so we will hit that another night!
Trail 8 will also get done!
11s is still unsafe for any groomer to go down. PLEASE ride with caution!

Also - 906 Services Inc. is pulling a sled out of this waterhole as I post this. Last week's warm-up wrecked the ice bridge we built and there is no bypass around the water.

Trail 1-Groomed smooth heading south between Trail 2 and Presque Isle. A few branches and whips but getting better. Trail 1 between Marenisco and Trail 100 same condition. Trail 1 heading west and north from the 1/100 intersection is still closed due to logging.
Trail 2-Groomed and smooth through Marenisco to the groomer turnaround.
Trail 13-Rerouted from the 13/100 intersection to head north to Camp 6 road and then east/southeast to the Trail 13/2 intersection. Groomed and fairly smooth with a couple water hole/hazard section. Also a few sections with many low branch’s/whips so use caution. Trail 13 is closed heading southeast from the 13/100 intersection due to logging and has not been groomed or brushed.
Trail 100-Groomed and pretty smooth with a couple of minor rough sections and one minor water hole. Some low branches/whips but overall in good condition for this time of the year.

All of our trials are open and groomed.
There are still a few wet spots on trail 3 between Bruce Crossing and Rockland.
Please ride on the RIGHT side of the trail and STOP at the stop signs!
Stay on the trail, if you don’t we could lose trail permissions on private property.
Groomers have the right of way on the trails, pull over and stop to let them safely pass!
We now have Groomer Tracker installed in our groomers.
We groom every day that the weather conditions and equipment allow. Unforeseen circumstances may prevent us from going out, like a major blizzard and being snowed in at our homes or equipment breakdowns. #westernup
Last night Wyatt ran Trail 12 from the NCSC Clubhouse in Ontonagon to Trail 1 thru White Pine, Silver City and to the junction with Trail 11. He and Tractor Mac played lumberjack on Trail 11 all the way to the Junction of 102. Looks like that will continue to be a challenge this season.
Mike C did an up and back starting on Trail 12 out of Hamilton's North Coast Adventures to Trail 101 and then on to Trail 13 to the junction of Trail 137.
The water holes are starting to freeze up, but The LP Walsh Road section of Trail 12 still has running water in the swales. Our guys have built snow bridges, but many are one groom wide. Ride this section with caution, and STAY ON TRAIL.
Trail 1 along Lake Superior is still thin, but improving with each snowfall.
