MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 12/03 Trail Report Posted. https://www.algersorva.com/snowmobile-trail-report/ Early Season Conditions. We attended a meeting last night at the Road Commission. They are still wanting funds to pay for pavement damage snowmobiles cause. Miners Castle Trail is closed. We will continue to try to find a solution. Several Business owners were in attendance. Congressman Jack Bergman had his UP District Liaison attend. We are working with them and are exploring all possible funding options as well as reroute opportunities. We also attended the Munising Township Board meeting last night providing them with updates and addressing any concerns they have. MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails >> Groomer operators were checking traffic levels and we had feedback from some drift busters and we will be looking into conditions tomorrow before we pull the trigger on grooming. Conditions are getting more favorable, but the snow isn’t settling fast enough with sleds avoiding the drifts and knocking the air out of them. At 16 thousand pounds, the groomer doesn’t float enough in soft deep snow and we dont have a second machine to self rescue. So bear with us as we constantly monitor and discuss amongst our operators on the earliest optimum time to safely hit the trail. The exception will be in the northwest wind snowbelts where up to 4” of dry fluffy snow is possible.
