We have 5 days of snow coming and and perfect cool weather to keep making the base stronger. Groomers are still going out and I will continue to keep everyone updated. #masscity#keweenaw#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Fletchy’s Otter Belly Lodge >> This is why we are holding off on rental sleds without a guide! The eagle harbor trail is not groomed and until I went down it, it was untouched! If you are not very familiar with the trails it can be difficult to navigate them in the early season! If you think you are up to it our guides are happy to take you out! #keweenaw#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> The end of November and beginning of December have been quite snowy! Thanks to our colleagues at the Grand Rapids office for putting this map and post together. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaThe warm Great Lakes and cold atmosphere teamed up for a week after Thanksgiving to deliver heaps of lake effect snow. New snow measured daily amounted to over 4 feet in parts of Northern Michigan. Some places saw 1 to 2 feet of snow fall in a day. Usually, lake effect snow is rather fluffy, but even so, this amount of snow up north settled into a good 2-foot base of snowpack. In southwest Michigan, mainly southwest of Grand Rapids, snow totals were around 1 to 2 feet, though a fair amount of it would settle and melt into the ground days later. Less than 6 inches of snow was more typical in Mid and Southeast Michigan. ... See MoreSee Less
WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Light to moderate wet snow is expected today, with the greatest amounts expected in eastern Upper Michigan. Before precipitation ends, snow could change to freezing rain or rain. This may result in a glaze of ice developing on untreated surfaces. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaLight to moderate wet snow is expected today, with the greatest amounts expected in eastern Upper Michigan. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> A system approaching overnight will bring around a half inch of snow to the south and west with up to 4 inches possible in the north and east. While overnight lows will mainly be in the teens, Saturday warms up to the mid 30s, bringing with some rain, snow, freezing rain, and sleet, though accumulations of ice and sleet will be light. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> A band of snow will press into the Keweenaw this morning. This will result in hazardous driving conditions for this morning's commute. Make sure to take it slow and drive with your headlights on! This band will weaken as it continues south, reaching the eastern U.P. late this afternoon/evening. Behind the band, more lake effect snow builds in before more widespread precipitation presses into the region Saturday. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaA band of snow will press into the Keweenaw this morning.
