Trails are patchy the further you go south. The trails are holding up and beautiful heading towards Houghton, making the trails great for ride on. We have 5 days of snow coming and and perfect cool weather to keep making the base stronger. The eagle harbor trail is not groomed and until I went down it, it was untouched! If you are not very familiar with the trails it can be difficult to navigate them in the early season! New snow measured daily amounted to over 4 feet in parts of Northern Michigan. Some places saw 1 to 2 feet of snow fall in a day. Usually, lake effect snow is rather fluffy, but even so, this amount of snow up north settled into a good 2-foot base of snowpack. In southwest Michigan, mainly southwest of Grand Rapids, snow totals were around 1 to 2 feet, though a fair amount of it would settle and melt into the ground days later. Less than 6 inches of snow was more typical in Mid and Southeast Michigan. Before precipitation ends, snow could change to freezing rain or rain. Superior Snowmobile Club >> Groomer report coming to us from Kurt and Joyce Helmstadter: Groomed Trails 12, 3, and 13 late yesterday. These are pics from Trail 12. Some plowed trail by Bob Lake. Temps are warming today, tomorrow, and Monday. Please be kind to the trails, tread lightly during this warm up. The bright side of this is that it will help firm up the base. Think cold!
