Newberry Trail Report – 02/22
NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Pine Stump – 02/22 I went for a quick ride to see what things are like. This mirrors my post from a couple weeks ago with the previous warm up Trail 8 has spots where it’s good and it has spots that are bare for several hundred feet and you have to skirt the edge. It’s the worst in the clear cuts The seasonal roads and fire lanes are good still. It’s spring riding conditions that are way early this year. You need to trailer up to get into the snow. Towns will be bad to terrible to access. If you want to do a ton of miles stay home. As I’ve been telling everyone if you want to ride some and not afraid to take the seasonal roads etc you can do 75 to 100 miles and have some fun. Ride the trails long enough to get off of them The pictures are from today they start from leaving pine stump and working my way up to trail 8 west and then looping back on seasonal roads and fire lanes Trail 9 towards wolf inn will be similar. Some crap and some that’s not so bad. In the clear cuts are where things are the worst. I’m sure the burned out area towards paradise is terrrible It’s supposed to be cold this weekend with a chance of 1-3 inches of snow tomorrow. Boy would the few inches of snow be a blessing at this point. We just need to get past the warm day today let’s hope some clouds roll in For most riders this could be the end if we don’t get some March storms. Typically we get some good storms in March so let’s hope Go for a ride and if you get bored jump in the truck and visit all your favorite places. Make sure to visit the local businesses while your up they’d love to see you I’m all booked up but feel free to trailer up here. Light snow will accompany the front but generally less than an inch is expected. Behind the front temperatures will fall into the single digits above and below zero. This combined with gusty winds will bring wind chills down into the teens and twenties below zero. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for Gogebic and Iron counties tonight through Saturday morning. Lake effect snow will develop behind the front in the northwest wind snowbelts with several inches expected. Along cr407 to the river the trail is shot but you can ride between the road and trail. Watch for hazards

10 degrees this morning and cloudy. Mother Nature FINALLY blessed us with a good dumping of snow! We have picked up a solid foot or more in the last 36 hrs. and its been COLD.
Following up from my last report......the tech did finally make it out and went through our computer problems on all 3 machines. 2 of them are up and runnin good now and we just got the parts we need for the third one and that will be good to go today. Now, on to whats been happinin with the trails......
Yesterday we took 2 machines with 4 guys but no drags and headed south on trail #8. We skipped the swamp just south of town and started at the river mouth. We ran across just some minor water holes at the south end of the power line and a touch more severe in the Federal Forest section. We kept the gates closed in the Federal Forest section to give that a chance to tighten up.
Tomorrow we are gonna send the same set up around the Point Trails #452 & #453. The other machine will hit the Pine Stump trail #8 doing a full groom. After we see how all that goes we will hit the Falls trail #45 hopefully by the end of the week. I`m sure ya`ll have seen we have a slight warm up coming this Tues. for a couple days so that will dictate what we do on the Falls trail and the Swamp south of town.

So ya, took off at 6 all cognetoie thinking I'd just focus and pay attention to the task at hand tonight but see we've been spotted, evidence from several places were out here, could be the lights, it is orange, dunno but it didn't work! 😂
Anyway, 4th season playing with one of these and I can tell you it's been a perfect storm 😁 of continuous snow, temps, and all of you working with us to leave the snow on the corners for us to squish, ( See how wide and Flat they're building up!!) I just turned south at Wolf Inn, if we get this 7" Carl Bonac says "anything close to the Soo" , that's us right? 😉 we could used it but is pretty awesome right now, no complaints here! Actually belive this keeps up, we will make the cover of Better Cabins & Trails this year 😎
