Newberry Trail Report – 02/22
NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Pine Stump – 02/22 I went for a quick ride to see what things are like. This mirrors my post from a couple weeks ago with the previous warm up Trail 8 has spots where it’s good and it has spots that are bare for several hundred feet and you have to skirt the edge. It’s the worst in the clear cuts The seasonal roads and fire lanes are good still. It’s spring riding conditions that are way early this year. You need to trailer up to get into the snow. Towns will be bad to terrible to access. If you want to do a ton of miles stay home. As I’ve been telling everyone if you want to ride some and not afraid to take the seasonal roads etc you can do 75 to 100 miles and have some fun. Ride the trails long enough to get off of them The pictures are from today they start from leaving pine stump and working my way up to trail 8 west and then looping back on seasonal roads and fire lanes Trail 9 towards wolf inn will be similar. Some crap and some that’s not so bad. In the clear cuts are where things are the worst. I’m sure the burned out area towards paradise is terrrible It’s supposed to be cold this weekend with a chance of 1-3 inches of snow tomorrow. Boy would the few inches of snow be a blessing at this point. We just need to get past the warm day today let’s hope some clouds roll in For most riders this could be the end if we don’t get some March storms. Typically we get some good storms in March so let’s hope Go for a ride and if you get bored jump in the truck and visit all your favorite places. Make sure to visit the local businesses while your up they’d love to see you I’m all booked up but feel free to trailer up here. WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> We know you'll pass by this post for snowfall today, but here on February 12th, 2026, it's quite a reflective moment to see just how far we have come this winter. Just a couple weeks ago it was lake effect snow every single day. Today, a light band of 1-3" near Munising is all we will need to write home about. We even tossed in some humor for those not in a designated snowfall zone. A couple slick spots will pop up along M-28 near Munising, and perhaps around Petoskey if a longer lake effect band happens to form, but this is more unlikely than likely. <> Latest Trail Reports – Quick Links <>
Along cr407 to the river the trail is shot but you can ride between the road and trail. Watch for hazards

24 degrees this morning and cloudy. We must have had that freezing fog again earlier cause everything is pure white outside....really cool looking. We have survived the last couple days of warmer weather really well, it helps when it gets into the low 20`s at night. It looks like a couple more days above freezing and then chill back out to "normal", with a little snow here an there.
Every trail was groomed yesterday and all operators said they are in great shape. Our entire system will get it again today and then Monday`s are our "maintance day". This is where we go thru all 3 machines with a fine tooth comb and grease underneath zerts and just check everything out. Bout all I got to report....COME ON U.P. before its too late!!!!

Happy Valentines Day everyone! 15 degrees this morning and a freezing fog out der. Everything is all white.....kinda pretty. Now that the weather has changed, temps up and down, I will try to put out a report everyday. I hit 42 here at my place yesterday. Here`s what went on yesterday.....
Groomer Patrick hit the Point trails #452 & #453 and called them good. He said the snow got pretty soft on him but all is good.
Groomer Glenn ran the Falls trail #45 and called that good too. Didn`t break thru any ice yet.
Groomer Dave ran trail #8 south and said the same. Our infamous swamp is still solid!
Groomer Keith ran the Pine Stump trails #8 & #9 and called that good.
All trails will get run today too.
So......there ya have it. a complete run down of our system.

It was 9 degrees this morning when I got up at 0630, it is now 22 at 0800 and cloudy....weird weather! It is supposed to get up into the low 30`s today and drop into the low teens at night. "They" are watching for a "big storm" coming in for early next week but temps into the 30`s....weird weather. Nuff on that....lets get to the trails....
All trails were run yesterday and they are all in great shape. We will run almost around the clock all weekend to keep them that way for you. If the warmer days start to break up the ice in the low lands I`ll be sure to let ya`ll know, but for now we are in GREAT SHAPE!!!! Bout all I got to report.
