Gaylord Area Trail Report – 01/23

Gaylord Bureau –

January 23, 2024 – 10:15 a.m.

Trails are still in fair shape, but you may start seeing some bare patches in spots. Temperatures are supposed to warm up this week and we’ll keep you posted on how this affects the trails. Check back for updates and trail conditions.

Please remember that groomers have the right of way and kindly move off the trail so they can safely proceed. If you approach a groomer from behind, the operator will signal when it’s safe for you to pass. Groomers are here to make your ride more enjoyable so please be courteous!

As always, check back with us for updates and weather reports.

Sledheads of Frederic – 01/23

Squishy snow, not what we want to feel and its supposed to continue on the uphill temps for the next couple of days. Its 11:30 on tuesday and up to 27 right now, Light snow flakes in the air. There were some sleds out and about yesterday and still reporting o.k.. riding. Snirt is showing more and more. I see there are two sleds over at the Swamp right now. It looks like I am going to pass on riding this week. Lets hope some cold weather comes back. I brought my plow truck in the back room to let it thaw out. The old thing has pushed alot of snow in the past week or so.I am going to take the same angle parking lot picture each morning to see how it looks. Compare todays to yesterdays. Thanks for checking in.

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> We know you'll pass by this post for snowfall today, but here on February 12th, 2026, it's quite a reflective moment to see just how far we have come this winter. Just a couple weeks ago it was lake effect snow every single day. Today, a light band of 1-3" near Munising is all we will need to write home about. We even tossed in some humor for those not in a designated snowfall zone. A couple slick spots will pop up along M-28 near Munising, and perhaps around Petoskey if a longer lake effect band happens to form, but this is more unlikely than likely.
Enjoy your rather snow-free day here in Michigan in early February. If you've read this far, comment your favorite memory of winter to this point.
