BENZIE / MANISTEE UPDATE via Benzie Manistee Snowbirds – 01/21 Benzie Manistee snowbird groomer drivers are awesome, they groomed 160 miles on Thursday, 75 miles on Friday, and 60 miles on Saturday and the trails were perfect. We covered from Brethren on the South end to Maple City up North. Please give the groomers room on the trail they are big rigs, we have snowmobiles and can maneuver around them. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat. Does anyone have any information that would explain why Antrim County was excluded from the the governor’s State of Emergency?
