NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Pine Stump – 3/10 Good amount of people enjoying the snow!! <> NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA – 3/07 March 7, 2023 11:00 am We groomed north to trail 431, trail 45 to the falls, and to cut river last night. We plan to groom to holland lake, south to trout lake tonight. As of this moment we have only one groomer operational so we will do our best to keep the trails good. All the trails are wet and getting thin with the warm weather, but are still in fair condition, trail 45 has mud again where the logging has been going on but we are working to try to bring some snow back in from the edges. It is currently 30 degrees and sunny. Remember when you are on the side of any road always ride on the right side! In other news we are raffling off a a 2023 Polaris Sportsman 450 Donated by Renze Power Sports. Tickets: $100.00 each Drawing held April 22, 2023 @ 7:00pm at the Elks Lodge in Newberry 300 tickets printed If less than 125 tickets are sold then the raffle will revert to a 50/50 drawing. Tickets can be purchased from: Renze Power Sports, Halfway Lake Cottages, North Store Follow Me Outfitters, Pine Stump Restaurant, Schubach Farms Cabin Rentals, or Rich Rottier 616-550-8201. Proceeds will go to fund trail grooming equipment! Good Luck! Curfew in the Village of Newberry is 11:00pm to 7:00am. Trail 9: Groomed to trail 431. Reported as good away from town and fair near town. Logging be operations are finished and county roads 415 and 422 are now being groomed but snow is still a bit thin. Trail 498: Groomed last night. Good. Trail 45: Groomed to the falls. Fair condition. There is logging on the trail shortly after you jump on Trail 45 just past the Logging museum off of M-123. There is also be logging about 3 miles North of Skyline Road off to the right. Please use extreme caution in these areas! Both portions are being plowed and could be bumpy or rutted. Very Good in spots Trial 9/2: Groomed to Cut River. Conditions being reported as fair. 9 degrees this morning and snowing. I picked up 5-6" of fresh snow on my deck from last night and it looks like its supposed to snow for the next couple of days too!!!
Our entire system was groomed yesterday and there`s only one way to describe it......EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, those of you who follow me know I don`t use that word very often, but I ain`t kiddin, it doesn`t get any better than this. The swamp south of town, the Falls trail, ALL of our low land trails are better than I`ve seen in a long time!!!!!
If you don`t have plans on gettin U.P. here.....make `em. It won`t last forever.

I can tell you there are nights now and then I'd like to go out back there and have a discussion with our little drag about what we're supposed to be doing with a Ball Pean hammer, thank your Ribbons for that.
So far, very little wear and tear, get to focus on improving, not repairing, and the drag and I are now getting along, keep you posted.

11:04pm. In and outta North Store Wolf Inn, took the time to cut a limb up, on the exit end, and a leaning tree at the exit on I75 there crossing back to the Windy Corners intersection that have been bugging us awhile. That trail Report is I love when it turns out like it did, and we can do that for them. 😊
Turned right towards Holland Lake, this section seems to be where my phone jams up, it is after 11 on a Monday , as I said earlier, 9 was pretty nice when we arrived, even better when we leave, I'm just going to make tracks for a hunk of time now, turn up the radio, become one with Tucker, don't fret 😉

Our west winds kick up to the 30-40 mph range later tonight. Prior to that happening, a northwest wind will batter some lake effect areas with an additional 1-3" this afternoon, with pockets of 4"+ possible. As we move into Tuesday, a widespread blanket of 2-5", with pockets of 4-8" will overtake the Lake Michigan shoreline, eastern UP, and Keweenaw Peninsula. Temperature difference between water and air, plus adequate lift will fuel lake effect all the way through Wednesday morning. Additionally, we have a clipper moving through on Tuesday that will bring isolated pockets of 1-3" to the east side. Most locations should still be beneath an inch, however, too many variables are in play to not mention it.
Travel will be impacted along and west of US-131, with minor travel impacts all the way over to the US-127 corridor (I-75 north of Grayling). The clipper will be swinging through with the initial push of gusty winds after midnight tonight through 10 am Tuesday morning.
