Straits Area Trail Report – 03/10
Friday March 10. Current trail conditions We have received no new snow this week. Trails have froze up with cool night temps and there is a good base in many areas between trout lake and cut river. We just groomed to cut river, the caffey and headed to trout lake now. Anything south of the berma grade to St Ignace is shot. You can ride in and out of Cut river and Trout lake from the south ok. Just expect spring conditions that go from excellent to bare spots with plenty of nice areas of riding once you get in the woods. Light snow will accompany the front but generally less than an inch is expected. Behind the front temperatures will fall into the single digits above and below zero. This combined with gusty winds will bring wind chills down into the teens and twenties below zero. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for Gogebic and Iron counties tonight through Saturday morning. Lake effect snow will develop behind the front in the northwest wind snowbelts with several inches expected.
