FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 03/08 Another 40 plus degree day coming at us. Yestserday I saw 42 degrees too. At least it started out cool but outlook still isnt good. Weather is calling for some snow on Friday but I will be surprised if its rideable snow. Trail crossings still have alot of white but also sections of alot of dirt. Pics below were this morning at crossing on M 93 near hanson hills and also right by there were these seven deer basking in the sun. This is surely the worse one since I opened up in 1997. Maybe we will get a big blast but this late in the season it wont last long. I haven’t looked at the u.p. pages in a few days so I do not know what is going on up there. I would still take another trip up there if its possible. Thanks for checking in. The warmth will help melt and leave some lube for those that are adventureous enough to get a ride in. My sled is buried in the corner right now but I know I could get a good ride in if I was a bit more ambitious. Ground or should I say ice is still rock hard and it is now 33 degrees. I would think that once things start melting that if you were here you could still get in a ride. Trail crossings I looked at on the way up here are still pretty white. I looked at the sledview.com camera and it looks bright white with still no snirt and 12 inches showing on his depth guage. FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Well its up to 25 degrees and while its still nice and white out there its rock hard and like riding on broken concrete. I bet I had about a dozen riders ask for ice scratchers yesterday. Riders also told me they saw several sleds pulled off and trying to cool things down. I have seen a few sleds out already this morning. Riding would get better if the sun melts a little on top so people have lube. So northern michigan is pretty much a big rough skating rink right now.
