Paradise Area Trail Report – 03/07
March 7, 2023 30 degrees this morning under a bright blue sky. The forecast for the next few days says sunny and around 40….not good folks. The trails are going fast, here`s what I got for ya…. I ran the South trail #8 yesterday and will call it good in some spots and poor in others. Seems the further south I got the better snow conditions got. From town to about 3 miles south of the river mouth was ugly but from then on not too bad. I did skip the swamp, I`m thinking we will close the gates to it in the next couple days. I`m also thinking we are done grooming south unless we get a bunch of snow. Groomer Scott ran the Falls trail #45 last night and told me it still is in decent shape but the wet areas are starting to break up. The next few sunny days are not gonna help that. The Point trails #452 & #453 are probably in the best shape. The far north loop won`t take much sun to cook the snow off of that tho. They will also be groomed today. Soooooo…..there ya have it. Sorry for the not so good news but ya can`t do much with Mother Nature not cooperating. I`ll get back on here in a couple days to let ya`ll know how the trails look once the sun and 40 degree temps do their damage. 9 degrees this morning and snowing. I picked up 5-6" of fresh snow on my deck from last night and it looks like its supposed to snow for the next couple of days too!!!
Our entire system was groomed yesterday and there`s only one way to describe it......EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, those of you who follow me know I don`t use that word very often, but I ain`t kiddin, it doesn`t get any better than this. The swamp south of town, the Falls trail, ALL of our low land trails are better than I`ve seen in a long time!!!!!
If you don`t have plans on gettin U.P. here.....make `em. It won`t last forever.

I can tell you there are nights now and then I'd like to go out back there and have a discussion with our little drag about what we're supposed to be doing with a Ball Pean hammer, thank your Ribbons for that.
So far, very little wear and tear, get to focus on improving, not repairing, and the drag and I are now getting along, keep you posted.

11:04pm. In and outta North Store Wolf Inn, took the time to cut a limb up, on the exit end, and a leaning tree at the exit on I75 there crossing back to the Windy Corners intersection that have been bugging us awhile. That trail Report is I love when it turns out like it did, and we can do that for them. š
Turned right towards Holland Lake, this section seems to be where my phone jams up, it is after 11 on a Monday , as I said earlier, 9 was pretty nice when we arrived, even better when we leave, I'm just going to make tracks for a hunk of time now, turn up the radio, become one with Tucker, don't fret š

Our west winds kick up to the 30-40 mph range later tonight. Prior to that happening, a northwest wind will batter some lake effect areas with an additional 1-3" this afternoon, with pockets of 4"+ possible. As we move into Tuesday, a widespread blanket of 2-5", with pockets of 4-8" will overtake the Lake Michigan shoreline, eastern UP, and Keweenaw Peninsula. Temperature difference between water and air, plus adequate lift will fuel lake effect all the way through Wednesday morning. Additionally, we have a clipper moving through on Tuesday that will bring isolated pockets of 1-3" to the east side. Most locations should still be beneath an inch, however, too many variables are in play to not mention it.
Travel will be impacted along and west of US-131, with minor travel impacts all the way over to the US-127 corridor (I-75 north of Grayling). The clipper will be swinging through with the initial push of gusty winds after midnight tonight through 10 am Tuesday morning.
