Paradise Area Trail Report – 03/05
March 5, 2023 36 degrees this morning at 0930 and partly cloudy. I see we might get an inch or two of snow tomorrow and then get sunny for the rest of the week…..not good. We endured sunny skies and 40 degree temps this weekend and the trails held up pretty good but they can`t take much more. Here`s a run down from what the guys told me from yesterdays runs…… Groomer Keith ran the Pine Stump trail #8 and called it good. Groomer Glenn hit the Point trails #452 & #453 and called them good. Groomer Scott ran the Falls trail #45 and called that good also. I ran the South trail #8 and will call that good too except for the swamp south of town. There is hardly no snow left in there but it is still froze in solid. There is also a lot of standing water on top of the trail…..just kinda ugly. We plan on runnin everything again today just to clean up from the weekend and then see what the weather brings. Sad to say, but it doesn`t look good what with the forecast being sunny all week. If you didn`t come UP for this weekend you might have missed out on your best chance….but I hope I`m wrong. Keep an eye on the weather and keep checking back, I`ll keep you informed. Good morning all and welcome to the first trail update of the season. I've been a bit slow getting these started. Temps have been well below freezing since thanks giving. We had 1 big snow over Thanksgiving that dumped about 10 inches. Since then, up until last night its been a couple inches here and there a few times a week. Last night into this morning we picked up a solid 8. Were at a solid 2 ft for the season so far. Trails are decent as long as they arent in the swamps. Traffic overall is low with it being early season and all the snow from Gaylord North. Not gunna lie, alot of you are missing out.
9 from Newberry to Pinestump is good. Its been panned and groomed a few times now.
45 to the Falls is Closed at the 500. Swamp is still doing swamp things but temps are staying below freezing. Hopefully in the next week or so it will open.
9/2 South. TASA went down to Epoffete a few days ago. The last system we got came out of the south and dumped aboutb10 inches.
Surrounding clubs are hit and miss because of swaps. Paradise hasnt been out much. They have a groomer that wasnt happt when they fired it up and have. Mechanic taking a look at it. 45 to Newberry is closed because of the swamp. You can gst to Paradise from the north on 8/9. 452 and 453 have water holes so be carefull if your wanting to make that loop.
Curtis has been to Newberry and reports are good. Some of their other trails are in the swamp and are not open. Check there page out for more details.
Seney has been out as well and made it over to 9 on 431 a few days ago.
I wouldnt hesitate to come up if your looking for a ride. It's still early season so be sure to check in on the socials of# the clubs in the area your riding for current updates. #newberry #snowphotosTrail Update 12/11/25.

We're back at it, squishing in another 6" or so leaving town, spreading it out like butter. 😊
Yesterday I shoveled a good foot off my deck in Newberry, was clean 4-5 days before, it just keeps coming 2", 3", 6", still 5" -6" fresh the entire trip so far today, turned and headed up to Holland Lake Park and Ride. #newberry #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less
The Good
Trail 45 &457 (north )from (curtis) to Newberry fair to good condition. private land still gated but there is a reroute down Sandtown Rd.
South to Gould city/Naubinway
Trying to open up this afternoon if the swamp is froze…..
Remember, Trail 2
Hiawatha Sportsmans is still closed in the south next to the pipeline until December 15!
The Bad…..
Trail 43 to Germfask was opened up last night. The section south of McGann Road. Use Caution!!!!⛔️
We got a Groomer stuck in the swamp.
Got it out no problem, but it made a big mess! Please stay out of this area and allow it to freeze. See photos
It was a 10 hour run 4 men clearing downed trees/ brush.
The rest of this Trail opened up very nicely.. #curtis #newberry #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less

Most of us got that quick burst of 1-2" (locally 3") earlier, and we're already onto the next system - later today!! Fast!
Notice we'll have a distinct rain/ snow line to the south.
Models have all come together nicely. That's a great thing because it lines up with my forecast quite nice. My snow map was posted earlier! Scroll my page!
Some areas are looking at up to 6"of snow.
Rain falling into cold snow pack roads will cause some very slick conditions. Dirt roads, I'm talking to you! You know this already, though haha.
Most treated roads to the south will be ok, though. Anywhere all snow all the time (north of I-96) will be very slow going!
Want a home with a fireplace and big windows to watch the snow!? (I dream of this) #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskey ... See MoreSee Less
This is late Tuesday thru Wednesday AM only. Repeat that. 😅
About 1-2 inches could fall Tuesday AM before this second system moves in.
There will be some rain mixed in to the south. Please note that'll make back dirt roads quite slick for those folks.
Temperatures stay in the 20s further north, so it'll be a lighter, fluffy snow.
Roads Wednesday AM won't be fun.
This is followed by cold and some lake effect! More slick roads possible with that. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traverscity #petoskeySnow time!!
