NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Pine Stump – 3/02 A little dust last night! <> <> NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA – 3/02 March 2, 2023 We groomed north to holland lake, and cut river last night. We plan to groom to trout lake, noter to trail 431 and the falls tonight. We are down one groomer, currently waiting for parts that are hopefully going to be here today. It is currently 25 degrees and cloudy, it snowed about an inch last night. In other news we are raffling off a a 2023 Polaris Sportsman 450 Donated by Renze Power Sports. Tickets can be purchased from: Renze Power Sports, Halfway Lake Cottages, North Store Follow Me Outfitters, Pine Stump Restaurant, Schubach Farms Cabin Rentals, or Proceeds will go to fund trail grooming equipment! Good Luck! Trail 9: Groomed to holland lake and back. Reported as very good. Logging be operations are finished and county roads 415 and 422 are now being groomed but snow is still a bit thin. very good. Trail 498: Groomed last night. Very Good. Trail 45: Did not Groom to the falls last night, because of mechanical issues with groomer. very Good. There is logging on the trail shortly after you jump on Trail 45 just past the Logging museum off of M-123. There is also be logging about 3 miles North of Skyline Road off to the right. Please use extreme caution in these areas! Both portions are being plowed and could be bumpy or rutted. Very Good in spots Trial 9/2: Groomed last night to cut river. Conditions being reported as very good. Thank you to all the team at the groomers barn who puts in countless hours to keep the system groomed and maintenance on the machines! WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> Northwest winds kick in later today, allowing for lake effect snow to return primarily for the areas drenched in shades of blue. A couple locations will pick up 1-3" or greater within the most intense bands. We are monitoring the Kalkaska county region the closest for potential upgrades, but this should be a good base forecast to get you through the end of the day on Thursday, December 11th. This forecast starts at 5 pm EST this evening when the advisories end for the system, while the lake effect bands begin coming on shore. A couple of squalls may produce blowing snow, reduced visibilities under half a mile, and a very miniscule chance for thundersnow. Areas without a color designation are not anticipated to benefit from the lake effect snow this time around. Yesterday I shoveled a good foot off my deck in Newberry, was clean 4-5 days before, it just keeps coming 2", 3", 6", still 5" -6" fresh the entire trip so far today, turned and headed up to Holland Lake Park and Ride. #newberry #snowphotos

Trail 43 to Germfask was opened up last night. The section south of McGann Road. Use Caution!!!!⛔️

Got it out no problem, but it made a big mess! Please stay out of this area and allow it to freeze. See photos

Some areas are looking at up to 6"of snow.
Rain falling into cold snow pack roads will cause some very slick conditions. Dirt roads, I'm talking to you! You know this already, though haha.
Most treated roads to the south will be ok, though. Anywhere all snow all the time (north of I-96) will be very slow going!
