FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 02/27 It’s been a calm before the storm on monday in downtown Frederic, weather is saying we are gonna get maybe 6 to 8 inches by tonight. Its been moving north east from down by Cadillac. Its 1 p.m. now and nothing so far. The key word in there is maybe. Actually quiet a few sleds around town this morning but none have been into the shop. If we do get the snow that will be nice but temps are predicted to be mild the rest of the week. I had to run a belt up to some riders that were at the Porter Haus last nite and ran into Francis and a couple of his friends from Georgia…..that was lucky as I have to say a big thanks for buying my dinner…..Francis also was out for his birthday dinner with them and is a groomer driver and head cheese of the Ausable Valley Snowmobile Association….pics below are from out front of the Frederic Inn on sunday. Lets see if we really get dumped on. I just filled my plow truck up with gas just in case. Thanks for checking in. Several inches of new snow likely through tonight, heaviest across parts of the eastern U.P. and northwest lower. Snow combined with strong winds will result in whiteouts at times, especially near the Lake Michigan shoreline. Cold temperatures filter in to northern Michigan behind the major winter storm. Consequently, for those without power, dangerously cold temperatures are expected this afternoon through Tuesday night. #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskey 
They report that tree damage has led to ~87% of the county's residents losing power as of this morning (3/16). One webcam that was operational on the east side of the lake displays ice-encrusted trees along the shoreline.
