SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 02/26 Hey guys! Just got back from a run on the city trails. Groomer Jay was my passenger tonight and helped me with the pre trip inspection. The new Tucker uses DEF and it’s handy to have such a tall guy to help me fill it🤣 It’s great to have newer snow to work with! Definitely makes the run more enjoyable when I can see and feel the drag working as it should. The most heavily traveled area was between the tunnel hill and the business spur, as usual. We brought the Sawzall with us to cut out the track mat that has been giving us trouble in the tunnel but it looks like someone already took care of it. Thank you to whoever did it! There were some pretty deep moguls forming along side the airport and I leveled them out as best I could. All other areas came out nice and flat and started to set up on the return trip. We switched off with groomer Pete so that he can make a run down 49 to Kinross and back. He will make the 2nd pass of the city trail part of 49 from the spur to the tunnel to smooth it out even more. We saw pretty minimal traffic and temps are ideal for the trail to set up so should be great riding in the morning. We also did the courtesy trail to Chippewa Motors, Inc., another one of our awesome commercial member supporters! Hope you’re enjoying the trails this weekend! What a difference it makes when there is snow in the northern lower and across the UP! Just got back from a ride to Paradise and the trails were excellent on the way out AND back! The swamp south of Paradise has some water spots and mud, to be expected but their part of 8 and 452 was awesome! Chippewa Snowchasers part of 8 was also awesome, as were our parts of 8 and 889! Lower traffic and recent snow have things in great shape here in the EUP! Headed out to groom now. Gotta pay to play! I’ll report when I get back. Light snow will accompany the front but generally less than an inch is expected. Behind the front temperatures will fall into the single digits above and below zero. This combined with gusty winds will bring wind chills down into the teens and twenties below zero. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for Gogebic and Iron counties tonight through Saturday morning. Lake effect snow will develop behind the front in the northwest wind snowbelts with several inches expected. Hey guys! Rider report from Greg regarding trail 49. If you subscribe to our system on Groomer Tracker, you can see that we have not been through there since Lane set the trail a week ago, but we’ll update once we are able to get in there.
For now, good advice from Greg👍🏼
“The trail to Kinross is a disaster right now (trail 49 from Alberta Ln in the Soo to Gaines Hwy) The power line just as you get out of town has a big wet hole and once you get past that there are holes in the farm fields. Stay out until they open it. The big swamps are fine they just have no snow. The trails in kinross are good. Everything other than Soo to kinross is amazing”

Good morning everyone! The Soo was blessed with around 8” or so of fresh snow yesterday!
Dan was out overnight on trail 8 from the Soo to Brimley.
It was -7 for his run🥶 It’s looking absolutely awesome this morning! ❄️❄️❄️
