Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 02/18
FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 02/18 Calm and quiet saturday morning in downtown Frederic. Its supposed to warm to upper 30s today, the lake effect from yesterday has settled and if I wouldnt have seen it myself I wouldnt have believed a groomer would be out but I did see the Gaylord groomer at the north end of Frederic on trail 7. Pic is below. WARNING,,,,if you do ride watch out for ice. There is alot of it under the snow and there was a sled accident on trail 7 yesterday where a lady hit a tree and broke her leg due to ice. I have heard of several people falling too so be careful. I went for a short ten mile ride on two tracks yesterday and I give it an o.k. but when I made it to trail 7 heading back into Frederic it was icy and rough. I like the two tracks much better. They are talking about a system snow hitting us after wednesday next week…..Lets see how that pans out. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. Does anyone have any information that would explain why Antrim County was excluded from the the governor’s State of Emergency?
