Cadillac Area Trail Report – 02/16

Sorry for the long delay in updates. I just returned from a snowmobile vacation of my own. Amazing!!!!!

Happy to tell you the trails in our system are amazing as well. We’ve had some mechanical problems with a couple of groomers in the days and weeks past but that is all behind us now and all groomers have been running their regular routes. Trails remain in very good to excellent condition throughout the system with an ice base to maintain the 6-8 inch snow-packed base. Watch it in the corners as the ice can catch you when you least expect it.

There are lots of sledders out this weekend so watch out for them and yourself so everyone can ride another day.

Snow accumulation: 15-24 inches plus an icy base

REMEMBER there are fewer signs in the woods this winter so when you finally do get a chance to ride, take your time and enjoy the ride. The need for speed may be costly to you and to others. Assume every trail is a winding trail and be ready for the next curve.

A reminder to those who enjoy riding the White Pine Trail, State Park officials have asked snowmobilers to ‘refrain from operating snowmobiles when less than four inches of snow cover the trail.’

Newberry Trail Report – Halfway Lake Resort – 02/16

All trails north of Newberry were reported to be in excellent condition for riders yesterday and last evening. The groomers are out on the trails and with the 6 inches of fresh powder we received everything will be in tip-top shape! Off trail riding you can expect 3+ feet of snow. Trails south of Newberry are reported to be good-very good. Visit the snow depth chart to see that our area truly has the most snow!

Please ride safe. This is a busy weekend on the trails. The UP 200 dog sled race is today (Saturday) from Marquette-Grand Marais. The hole on trail #45 has been marked and filled, thanks to the efforts of TASA groomers working with the DNR. A portion of this trail is plowed and used for logging, so watch for it to be icy with dips.

This trail report is not always updated on a daily basis, but we will update immediately if we are aware that conditions have changed. So, it is safe to assume that conditions remain as they were reported! If you have recent trail updates or suggestions, please feel free to email to us.

We are located 12 mi NW of Newberry and 7 miles S of Pinestump Junction. Between Grand Marais and Paradise.

Thank you for your phone calls. Availability: Full 2/15-2/18. Opening 2/19 and 2/20. Full 2/21-2/22.
