Grand Traverse Snowmobile Club – 02/21

TOTAL BASE: 6-8 inches

SNOWFALL LAST 24 HOURS: 6 inches

TRAIL CONDITIONS: Very Good to Excellent

We have received up to a foot of snow in places in the last few days, the wet areas have froze up and shouldn’t be a problem as long as the weather stays cold. The trails are in great shape with a base of around 6 to 8 inches, the groomers have been going out as scheduled. Should be a great weekend for riding so come on up and enjoy the Northern Michigan beauty of the Grand Traverse Area.

Remember all of our groomer drivers are volunteers, and most of them are snowmobilers giving up some riding time to groom so that you have groomed trails to ride on, so if you get a chance tell them thank you or a thumbs up, it means alot to them to know they are appreciated. Make sure to pick up one of our trail maps, we have some out on the trails in mailboxes at some map board locations and at our map sponsors. Support our sponsors and when you visit one of them tell them thank you for supporting GTASC

Ride safe and ride sober!! Remember to watch for groomers you never know when one will be coming around a corner or over a hill. Also remember that the signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the safety of snowmobilers, so please don’t remove them. If you have any questions about grooming or comments about the trails good or bad we would like to hear from you. Please feel free to contact us at gtascsnow@gmail.com

Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 02/22

Ten degrees this morning with a snow system moving in to give us 1-3 inches of new snow today. Temps are to be up close to freezing during the day and down to the teens over night this weekend, with a few snow showers. it should be a great time to go for a ride.

Groomers were out last night and today smoothing up the trails after sleds rough them up. Groomers will be out daily all weekend regrooming to bring them back up to smooth after the many sleds travel over them. The 2 week extended forecast looks good for continued grooming and good trails. So put on the bibs and go for a ride.
