Lake Gogebic Trail Report – 02/04

February 4th, 2014 – The Gogebic Area Grooming trails continue to stay in excellent condition with daily grooming along with temperatures highs only reaching into the teens and well below zero for lows plus plenty of snow! Our groomer drivers are reporting no problems on our trails. Conditions look great for the extended forecast, with highs in the single digits and teens and most nights below zero and lots more snow!!

Once again local law enforcement has asked me to remind snowmobilers that it is against the law to ride on the railroad tracks that run through Merriweather and Bergland. In some areas the snowmobile trails do run parallel to the tracks so please look for trail signage to let you know you are riding in the right area. Law enforcement has been out patrolling these areas and will ticket anyone not using the trails.

That’s all for now from Carolyn at the Hoop. I will keep you posted as often as conditions change. For additional information about the Lake Gogebic area we invite you to visit the only official website of the Lake Gogebic Area Chamber of Commerce at www.LakeGogebicArea.com or call us at 1-888-464-3242 (888-GOGEBIC). From all of us here at Lake Gogebic have a great ride as well as a safe ride.

**Please be sure that wherever you are purchasing your snowmobile area map that the money collected will be going to Gogebic Area Grooming to help offset the costs of grooming the trails. Watch for the Gogebic Area Grooming sticker displayed at contributing businesses and/or Gogebic Area Grooming map boxes.

Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 02/04

Greetings Sledders,

There’s still not much to talk about in terms of trail conditions, we are continuing to see very good trails and are hearing nice things about our grooming efforts, which is always passed on to our guys.

It would seem that once again you downstate and out-of-state folks are going see the snows from the next three systems that are heading across the nation’s mid-section and that’s okay we have plenty to work with on the trails and off trail looks like it would be a blast, although I can’t attest to that as I’ve been on my sled once all year. Hopefully that will change soon.

The only thing to caution you about are some of the corners, some are icy after last weekend’s traffic had it’s way with them and broke up the base that was established. We’ve bladed all the corners back in but there is a lack of moisture in the snow so some of them won’t set up the way we’d like. Please use some caution.

Temps look to stay well below freezing all week so we won’t lose anything for the foreseeable.

Next report will probably be next week unless something changes drastically.

Ride Often and Please Be Safe,
Keith, Sandy and The Girls

At Fay’s Motel enjoy direct access to the Grayling Area snowmobile trails.
