Paradise Area Trail Report – 01/29

January 29, 2015 – This morning it is 24 degrees and we got a solid inch of fresh snow. Looks like the 3-5 inches predicted just petered out. The weather guessers are calling for scattered snow showers for the next few days though and temps to remain cold.

All trails are in excellent shape, so not much to report except the weather…..boring!

Sooooo….come on UP….lets go ridin!!! Groomer Chris

January 28, 2015 – Woke up this morning to minus 5 degrees, partly cloudy and a beautiful sunrise.

Just a quick update to keep ya`ll up to speed. I`ve had a few calls asking how much snow we got on the ground. I would estimate about 3 feet….plus or minus…so there you go. We got a good one foot base on the trails….plus or minus. We are expecting some snow blowing in for tonight and tomorrow. They are calling for 3-5 inches….hope this happens….we could use some fresh stuff to groom. It has been cold the last couple mornings and the trails are gettin hard and packed. It makes it tough to groom when all you`re doing is breaking up the hard pack. The snow doesn`t set down as nice. The temps are supposed to warm into the upper 20`s this weekend also, that will help out too.

Not much more to report for now. So…….LET ER SNOW !!! Come on UP, You won`t be disappointed. Groomer Chris

Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 01/29

The snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are officially open. The groomers are out and the trails are in good to very good condition. The mat on the Portage Lift Bridge is down.

Due to weather and traffic there are a few bare spots south of the bridge so please use caution.

Trail 122 to Gay is closed for logging until further notice. Alternate routes to Gay are trails 124 and 133.

Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails, they have the right of way!!

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.

Please be aware that if you snowmobile on U.S. Coast Guard property you could face federal trespass charges.
