Groomers reported very low traffic, trails are in good condition with icy corners. We sure could use some new snow.
Our groomers are running daily and we have been fortunate not to have any break downs! Kudos to our mechanic Scottie, great drivers….and John Deere 🙂
Trail #2 east of Watersmeet GOOD
Trail #2 west of Watersmeet GOOD, some icy corners through the woods
Trail #13 south GOOD, some icy corners
Trail #3 north GOOD expect icy corners
RIDE SAFE, RIDE RIGHT and enjoy the trails!!
Please understand what the groomers are up against during a busy weekend…..
Lots of traffic over the weekends makes it hard for the groomers to keep up. 6 hour runs take 10 hours due to the drivers encountering hundreds of sleds. This really gives the trails no time to set up especially when you add temps over 30 degrees . Ultimately within 10 minutes or after 30 sleds no one can tell the groomers been down the trail.

We’ve had light snow coming down since this morning and it looks like it will continue until this afternoon. The temperature is a comfortable 27, making the snow dense. This is perfect snow for grooming! Even a couple inches will improve trail conditions. Groomers will be out tonight so I will have more specific information in the morning. Looks like the weekend will bring colder temps and another chance for some snow Saturday. Grab your friends and hit the trails before the big game on Sunday! Thanks for checking in…
Just an FYI that there’s logging activity on the east loop of our wooded trail. The area is signed but watch for changing trails conditions where the trail has been plowed for vehicle traffic. The activity stretches about 1/2 to 1 mile.
Other grooming club news is the new drag we took delivery of last week. The State approved our purchase and this drag was custom-made for us by the experts at Dubie Welding & Fabrication in Gaylord. We’re glad to support local, Michigan business with this purchase. And since this drag will be paid for with State dollars it’s nice to know your trail permit money is coming back around.
If you’re interested in supporting local grooming efforts, visit www.justgroomit.org for details on joining the Indian River Snowmobile Grooming club with a membership donation. We have hats and t-shirts (short & long sleeve) for sale too. Even when we can’t groom we still have operational expenses like insurance, two-way radio communication subscriptions, and more. Thanks to member donations we’re putting up a groomer building ,where we now store and can work on the equipment. Your support makes all the difference! Thank you–
