5-8 inches of new snow fell today!
The trails are shaping up nicely. I took a Father and Son out from St Louis yesterday on a 85 mile guided tour. We started off at Peegeo’s. We headed out to Kalkaska, then went south to Fife Lake, up to Ranch Rudolph and back to Peegeo’s. The trails were groomed and in pretty good condition considering how early in the season we are. We are getting snow today with more expected this week and next, the trails should be in great shape for the holiday season. Please be careful out there and remember the trails run both direction. Stay on your side of the trail and keep your track on the ground.
You should beat the rush and come on up and ride. We offer new and late model sleds with a good variety to choose from. This weekend should be a good one to ride. Call us today for your winter snowmobile rental adventure.
Ride safe !

As many of you know we have been very concerned about trail conditions. We have been on the phone for the past two days trying to get answers! .. It has been extremely frustrating, but we are all interested in having good trails for our visits and for ourselves to enjoy.
This is the email we have just received from the tourism bureau which we want to share with you!
We will be updating again tomorrow evening – we plan to get out and ride sometime tomorrow.
Hello Snowmobiling Friends,
We sincerely apologize to our many snowmobiling visitors and friends regarding the current trails conditions and reporting. We were informed last Friday December 11 that grooming was scheduled to begin that day. It was not until Monday, December 14 that we learned that did not happen.
Over the weekend, a slight warm-up and heavy usage made the trail conditions poor. Please be aware that we had no base and warm ground under the newly fallen snow; this did not help conditions. We have only had significant snow for less than a week! We learned late Monday morning that there was a paperwork holdup and grooming did not begin for that reason. Like many of you we contacted the DNR and those involved and the problem was resolved. This is not any single person or organizations fault.
We have learned this afternoon that all of the paperwork issues have been resolved and that grooming is scheduled to begin this evening Tuesday, December 15. We will carefully monitor this situation and make sure that groomi ng is well underway before the weekend!
We greatly appreciate your patronage of the Gaylord Area. You are very important to us. There is simply no reason for us to purposefully relay false information. We have been doing this far too long. Please be patient while we get the trails in good riding condition. Please stay posted to the site for the most current trail and grooming conditions.
Thank you again for your outstanding patronage of the Gaylord Area!
