Paradise Area Trail Report – 12/28

All trails are in poor condition …mainly due to water holes opening with the temps above 32f for the last 7 days..
TEmps at 22f at this posting and approx 17f on trails inland..
Temps will be drooping thru the week and more snow coming…
All trails are being worked on ,,waiting on this weeks cold and snow so we can start grooming…no trails are groomed,but they are packed and brush/trees removed…. at this time..

trail #452/453 (whitefish point loop)
in fair to poor condition …bare spots on northern edge ,,,and 4 known water holes to navigate around…

trail #45….( to Tahquameonon falls)
CLOSED from Paradise Parking area just west of town to the groomer barn..(total of 6 miles)
Use alternate North Trail #8 instead of Trail #45 (they run both run west to the groomer barn..6miles distant)…
#45 is Very wet …impassable in some areas as it is over wet bog /wetland type of areas…open water can be seen….these areas are mostly gated/now open and very muddy & wet to get thru these are Tahquamenon State Park areas…adn lead to the upper/lower thaquamenon falls and Newberry beyond..

TRAIL # 451 CLOSED (bypass of Paradise ‘birch hill area’) CLOSED…due to the wishes of private property owners that own this land. They have chosen NOT to give us grooming permission..

TRail #8 NORTH of Paradise in fair shape with only 2 known smaller water holes…snow is unknown depth at this posting in the crisp point area and west of little lake..

Trail #8 SOUTH of Paradise….Very poor condition . about 20% water holes….covers mostly low wet areas…’raco-brimley’ end 5 miles is in good condition & flat but not groomed yet..

Trail # 474…(connector to Silver Creek Pub/GAS & Hulbert)
In fair to good shape & packed/repaired with groomer

Picture from this morning….Sunrise at 8:20am…yesterdays snow on the deck..6′ of new snow…(it was bare before yesterday) no wind…but 22f since 2:00am 17f inland away from the big lake…temps over the big lake at 35f…. so no ice yet….

Its another no snow morning here at Lake Margrethe but on the bright side it is a little bit colder out there than it has been. We had some major hard rains on Saturday. Who know how long this can go on. There have been a few people stopping in the shop.
