February 25, 2015 – Conditions: EXCELLENT–Finally!!!!!!
Just got a call from our Trail Coordinator and he informed me it’s time to bump up our trail conditions rating. That’s the best news we’ve had all season. We’ve probablly picked up an additional inch or two since yesterday’s posting so it’s safe to say we have gotten 6-7 inches in the last 24 hours with lots of drifting.
February 24, 2015 – Trail Conditions: Good to Excellent
We are having an amazing snow storm right now. So far we have picked up 5-6 inches, maybe more. It’s hard to tell as the wind has been blowing it around causing near whiteout conditions. It started just before noon and came quickly. There has got to be some great riding out there today. The groomers are out there and have to be enjoying this new snow. Hope you can too.
There was quite a crowd at the Coyote Crossing/Boon Bonfire Memorial Event for Al Green–long time avid snowmobiler and our Trail Coordinator. We bought a new Dubie drag this year and dedicated it to Al. It was on display at Coyote Crossing yesterday (see picture belew). It was a beautiful day with lots of good stories to share among old friends and new. It was a day Al would have enjoyed.

Temps for today and tomorrow will be in the single digits with lows below zero. Thursday temps will be in the teens and in the 20’s over the weekend. Looks like a nice week ahead of us for riding.
The Gogebic Range Trail Authority Groomers Report:
Trail 2 to Ironwood is groomed and is in good condition, trail 2 to Marenisco is groomed and is in good to very good condition. Trail 8 will be groomed this afternoon, watch for a truck crossing going across the trail just after Tula Tracks…11N will be groomed this weekend and trial 160 is in good condition.
Watch for the detour around a large water hole on trail 11N signs are posted. There is still logging on 160 so watch for logging trucks. Logging trucks do have the right of way. Trail 11S is closed due to logging this winter.
Lake Gogebic Groomer’s Report:
Trails are in very good condition with a new cover of snow this morning of about 4-inches, more expected off and on today. Temps are expected to warm up to the 20’s for this upcoming last weekend in February which should make for some very comfortable riding.
Just a quick word of warning; DNR and police are ticketing anyone riding the highway, all highways, in our area along with riding on the railroad tracks or anywhere you know you’re not supposed to be. This includes riding through Bergland on the highway between JW’s and the gas station or riding from the gas station north along the highway to get to the trail connect.
VERY IMPORTANT: Watch for the reroute where trails 1, 102 and 8 West meet, north of Merriweather going west for about 5 miles. Watch for changes and signs. YOU CANNOT USE THIS AREA FOR ANY RIDING. This reroute will continue to the end of the season. You may also want to top off your gas if headed north through this area as the reroute will add an extra ten miles (there and back) to your trip with no gas stops between Lake Gogebic and Konteka.
The Watersmeet Groomer’s report:
Our groomers are running daily and trails are all groomed. All trails are in good condition.
Please follow the orange barrels and stay on trail going across Cisco Chain.
Please remember groomers are out both day and night, so watch for them, please pull over or at least slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by whenever you see them. Groomers have the right of way.
JUST ONE MORE REMINDER: PLEASE STAY ON MARKED TRAILS. RIDING ON UNMARKED TRAILS CAN RESULT IN THE CLUBS LOSING EASEMENT FOR THAT TRAIL AND IT CAN ALSO RESULT IN A POSSIBLE TICKET FOR YOU.
