Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – Sault Snow Report – 01/02

Just a light dusting of snow nothing really. The weatherman said we could get some lake effect but didn’t. Trails in poor condition barely rideable still working on trees and not all gates are open. Hasn’t been to cold the last couple days only in the low 20’s overnight so water is not freezing very fast either. Cold and snow is needed.

Will continue today cleaning up trees in the Kinross area and west of there.

Not all of our trails have been groomed once yet do to low snow or wet areas

If you go for a ride there is not much base and you will find wet spots and maybe a tree or two so ride with care! Some gates are still closed due to water and trees.

We are out tryin to clean up trees and branches down from the wind so if you go out for a ride watch for them. There are lots of wet or water areas yet also.

If you are staying in the Sault please look at our list of supporters on our web page and give them your business. Please do that in all towns you visit. The grooming entities are all made up of volunteers who want you to support those who support us!!!!!!

We now have a marked trail that will be groomed on occasion to get to parts and service at Chippewa Motors. it comes into the back of their lot from the east side of M-129 when you come out of the woods.

Sault Ste. Marie to Brimley, Trail #8 –

Base 0- 1 inches -Trail is in Poor Condition.

Brimley to Raco, Trail #8 –

City curfew is from 1 am – 6 am. Remember most City streets are open to traffic 20mph, stop at all intersections, and ride on the right hand side of street not on side walks. Watch for closed streets that are posted, mainly around the hospital, university, and state trunk lines.

Cadillac Area Trail Report – 01/01

January 1, 2016

Conditions: Poor to Fair

Happy New Year!!! We picked up an inch overnight and it is snowing now. The lake effect snow is accumulating this morning. Hope it keeps up. We need a good heavy snow but will take what comes and hope to keep what we get at this point. We aren’t grooming yet. Thanks to the hard work of a few volunteers our trails have been cleared of storm debris. All staging areas are being plowed as needed.

December 29, 2015

Conditions: Poor

Yipee! The snow has arrived. We received 4-5 inches overnight so the ground is covered. If you plan to hit the trails in the next few days bear in mind you are likely to encounter branches and trees down where ever you ride. The 60 mph wind that ripped through our area and left a lot of us without power for the holiday has taken a toll in the woods. The guys have been trying to clear the debris from the trails but there are a lot of miles to cover. Why not be a good samaratian and lend a hand when you can. Take the time to throw brush out of the trail when you see it helping to make the trails safer for everyone. No one appreciates it more than the volunteer groomers who maintain the trails.

LetÂ’s hope the snow machine is ready to work overtime for us so we can get some great riding in before spring.
Ride safely–Have fun!
