The snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open. The groomers will be going out as conditions permit. Trails are in late season condition.

Any trail usage should be done with extreme care as there are rocks, stumps, branches and wet areas not covered by snow and hazards that have not yet been identified. Road crossings are bare.

The mat on the Portage Lift Bridge will be removed today.

Trail 122 to Gay is closed for logging until further notice. Alternate routes to Gay are trails 124 and 133.

Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails, they have the right of way!!

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.

Please be aware that if you snowmobile on U.S. Coast Guard property you could face federal trespass charges.

March 15, 2015 – 28 degrees this morning and a clear blue sky.

Went grooming on the south run last night. Boy, were the trails TORE UP!

Thats the worst groomer ride I`ve had in a LONG time!!! Still sore this morning. If you think its bad on a sled try running a groomer for 8 hours with no suspension. This warmer weather sure takes a toll on the trails and snow conditions. It was like grooming tooth paste last night.

Snow not working through the drag and sticking everywhere. The drag was loading up and dumping and we just can`t get it to work right. The trail turned out just OK. I am gonna down grade them to just fair for now.

I went through our infamous swamp south of town. I didn`t break through anywhere but there are some small holes opening up with some slushy spots and a bit of water on top. I think this trail isn`t gonna last till next weekend. I haven`t heard from the other groomers that ran last night but I`ll bet my bottom dollar they had a rough ride too!! All trails were groomed last night.

I`ll try to get ahold of the other boys and get a report from them to keep you updated. Me thinks we only have another week to go before everything goes to pot…depending on the weather of course. Keep checking back if you are thinking about coming UP for one last ride.
