Superior Snowmobile Club Trail Report – 12/26

12/26/15 Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and able to share it with friends or family. We have been blessed around the Twin Lakes area. Our 27 inches did settle to about 16 and then we had drizzling rain for part of a day which really did help our conditions by settling the snow to 12-14 inches and that night the temp dropped and froze everything. Excellent. Out of Twin Lakes our groomers have run daily as far as our conditions will allow. Conditions north farther did deteriorate so riding was from Twin Lakes to about 2 miles north of South Range and Twin Lakes south on Trail 3 to the Rockland Junction. Trail 13 Loop out of Twin Lakes has been groomed approx. 13 miles and after the 13 miles there was minimal snow for grooming and some water areas. The last 3 days, temp colder and it has been snowing hard all morning and according to radar it looks like it will continue snowing for the rest of the day. Best part is, this snow should cover a larger area to give more distance riding.

Off to the right on this page, it’s hard to answer-like our trails go from good to poor, depending on where but doesn’t give us the chance to say that. We’re changing the grooming date to reflect grooming but again, we can only groom where conditions allow. Hate to be misleading but no choices are given us.

Just a reminder that Superior Snowmobile Club now has a website www.superiorsnowmobileclub.org and we hope you will check it out and pass on any suggestions. Also, we’d sure like for you to join our club at $25. per year. You’d be surprised how that $25. helps out with our expenses for fuel, maintenance and costly repairs. Memberships can be obtained thru our new website, or from Krupp’s Resort or Krupp’s Mini-Mart in Twin Lakes and Pat’s Yamaha/Polaris in Greenland.

We would also like to remind everyone to watch our daily snowfall totals on our township website which is: www.elmrivertownship.com On the home page click “snowfall totals.”

Enjoy your sport and “ride safe.”

Lake Gogebic Trail Report – 12/26

December 26, 2015 – Since Christmas Eve we’ve received about 5 – 6 inches of new snow and, most importantly, temperatures are back to where they should be. Looks like highs in the 20’s and lows in the teens to as low as 10 degrees predicted for tomorrow night. Groomers have begun running the trails to “pank” the snow down and to make sure this recent heavy snow didn’t bring down anymore branches onto the trails. As soon as we receive enough snow they’ll be out on the trails with the drags attached. Please be advised to go slow on the trails as there isn’t a lot of snow down yet and there will most likely be some wet areas out there. Remember, ice has just started freezing well over this last week.

That’s all for now from Carolyn at the Hoop. For additional information about the Lake Gogebic area please visit the chamber website at www.LakeGogebicArea.com or call us at 1-888-464-3242 (888-GOGEBIC).
