Drummond Island Trail Report – D.I. Resort – 01/29

1/25/16

The West End

This End of the Island is much better. He is staying on top of the water holes and most of the rocks have been covered. It still could use a few more inches of snow on this end but over all it is in fair to good condition.

The East End:

1/18/16

The water holes are getting better but the groomer is still breaking through them. While you can get around the water holes there is not as much snow on the east end of the island therefore the snow on the trails in that are is thin. There is logging going on trail 493 from the plains for 5 miles heading towards the east. Please watch for log trucks! This area is posted with Logging signs.

Our trail base is any where from 2-4 inches depending on the area with over a foot of snow on the ground.

Traverse City Trail Report – Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club – 01/29

Our trail system is in fantastic condition, rode from Peegeos to Fife Lake Inn and not a bump. We have a solid 18″ on the ground and the trails are perfect. Warmer temps this weekend shouldn’t do much to the trails so get up here and enjoy what we have to offer.

We have picked up about 8″ throughout the week, and we have a great base built. Tomorrow is supposed to be cold, and the groomers will be running in the evening. With the cold temps the trails should set up great! However warm weather around 40 is expected Saturday through Tuesday. If it gets below freezing in the evenings we will continue grooming. As of now riding is good to excellent, and groomers will run tomorrow . We will watch the temps and groom as we can Saturday through Tuesday. Get out and enjoy!!

Remember, all of our groomer drivers are volunteers, and most of them are snowmobilers giving up some riding time to groom so that you have groomed trails to ride on, so if you get a chance tell them thank you or a thumbs up, it means alot to them to know they are appreciated. Make sure to pick up one of our trail maps, we have some out on the trails in mailboxes at some map board locations and at our map sponsors. Support our sponsors and when you visit one of them tell them thank you for supporting GTASC

Ride safe and ride sober!! Remember to watch for groomers you never know when one will be coming around a corner or over a hill. Also remember that the signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the safety of snowmobilers, so please don’t remove them. If you have any questions about grooming or comments about the trails good or bad we would like to hear from you. Please feel FREE TO contact us at gtascsnow@gmail.com
