Cold is back and sorely needed. 4 days of temps above freezing, and pushing 50d took a serious toll on what we have out there.
The base on the RR Grade is basically gone. All open areas, and mostly toast. The snow in the woods area has held up, mostly, and is now about 2″ of ice with a little stuff on top.
We are going to need a storm to get things back into shape for the season, the 1/2″ of lake effect that we got yesterday isn’t going to cut it. Forecast is for cold, and a little snow most days for awhile. We are going to need a good 6″ before I can send the groomers out again.

We woke this morning to find it snowing. Sigh! What a wonderful feeling. There are a few flakes in the air now but nothing heavy. Temps are supposed to remain below freezing this week and some additional flurries are expected so that is certainly better than we have had the last couple of weeks. A major snow storm thrown in would be nice but we’ll have to take what we get. Will keep you posted.
Snow accumulation: 1.5 inches at 7:49 a.m.
REMEMBER there are fewer signs in the woods this winter so when you finally do get a chance to ride, take your time and enjoy the ride. The need for speed may be costly to you and to others. Assume every trail is a winding trail and be ready for the next curve.
A reminder to those who enjoy riding the White Pine Trail, State Park officials have asked snowmobilers to ‘refrain from operating snowmobiles when less than four inches of snow cover the trail.’
