Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 03/10
We have only received a couple inches of snow since Monday. The Gogebic Range Trail Authority reports grooming has stopped until further notice. Overall conditions are poor to fair and extremely icy. There will be a number of poor areas as the streets, highways and parking lots are bare.
Lake Gogebic area trail conditions are overall fair, but hard packed and icy in some areas. Groomers will be grooming when and where conditions allow. Trails south of the lake are in poor condition due to bare spots.
Watersmeet area trails are poor, but fair in the woods. Grooming has stopped and will not resume until weather permitting.
ABOUT THE ICE:
There is no such thing as "safe ice". If you choose to ride on a body of water, be sure you check with locals in the specific area you intend to ride and get current information on conditions in that area. When you ride on ice, you are doing so at your own risk.
