Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 01/05

Groomers in all areas are out working on the trails after Mother Nature finally did her thing.

GOGEBIC RANGE TRAIL AUTHORITY Reports Trails 2&8 were groomed- conditions and are fair to good. Trail 160 is groomed reporting it in fair condition with the exception of two wet spots on the trail. Trails 11N & 11S will be groomed as soon as the groomers can get to them, hopefully by the end of this week. We will keep you updated.

GOGEBIC AREA GROOMERS Lake Gogebic groomers report all trails are groomed conditions are in good shape some are very good. Groomers are out daily…

U.P.THUNDER RIDERS OF WATERSMEET report all groomers are out and trails are in fair to good shape.

Keep in mind the groomers will be out day and night, so watch for them,and PLEASE pull over or at least slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by whenever you see them.

The time you spend riding in Big Snow Country is all about lots of fun and a great time….therefore, your safety is our #1 priority…. Be Safe!!

Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 01/05

This is the Keweenaw trail system report for Thursday, January 5, 2012.

The snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open and groomers are out working on them. Conditions range from poor in towns and near the lake, to good. Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails….they have the right of way!!!

There is logging on a short portion of Trails 132 and 133.

Please be aware that if you snowmobile on U.S. Coast Guard property you could face federal trespass charges.

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.

Snowfall & Weather Report:

Houghton county – 14 inches on the ground, 82 inches fallen to date as of 1/5/12
Keweenaw county –11 inches on the ground, 56 inches fallen to date as of 1/5/12
